we should import NO FOOD from china.
their environment is an absolute disaster - there is no way that the food they produce will not be negatively impacted by this fact.
if china wants to devastate their environment, there's very little we can do about it - but we shouldn't buy food that was grown in that toxic environment.
no chinese food - at any price!

Read the label - if the country of origin is China put the product back on the shelf and pay the few cents more for a known to be safe product!
Who the hell would knowingly buy a cheap made in China knock-off product anyway?

Yes, but the cost should not increase. We're paying for double shipping on imports (the oil companies love this economic theory). All the monetary gains from outsourcing and bringing in illegal scabs are going to the executives, who used to make 50 times more than the workers and now make 500 times what the workers make.
I try not to buy anything from China, India, or Mexico. We should start a boycott.

I don't think that everything needs to be made in the US. (I wonder if we even have the capacity any more to make all of the goods that US residents desire to purchase).
I do think we should put pressure on the companies that make the products we would like to buy to reduce their investment and facilities in China. This is a country that is threatening to try to impose economic hardship on us. Why the hell should we be spending our dollars on goods from China?
Unfortunately, it's difficult today to buy things that are not made in China. Some things seem ridiculous though (like apple juice made from concentrate that is from China!). In some instances it seems like most items are made in China (lamps, toys, cheap clothing).

Yes, yes, 1000x YES!
Childrens' toys with lead paint? Pet food that causes kidney disease and even kills your pet? Tainted toothpaste? Bad peanut butter? These are just a few of the most recent ones over the past year, not to mention all of the wonderful, invasive species we get.
If you really wanted to import something cheap, do it from Mexico.

We as consumers want the cheapest price possible yet we're astonished when theres quality issues occasionally?
I dont view things like dog food and toys as a problem because the consumer can easily switch. What does concern me though is I have heard is that the cars they make are junk just like the koreans. Having garbage like that in our markets really hurts consumers because this is a purhcase that effects what you pay in repairs for the next 5-20 years not to mention the stress of car repair decisions, time lost, and inconvience. Someone needs to do something to ensure we dont have anymore junk brands of cars over here.

If we pulled out from our trade agreements with china they would likely start a war with us since we basically hold up that countries economy. overall i tihnk it would be great if we used american products over chinese because atleast we are accountable for what we produce, and we have to follow much stricter health codes for basically everything. then there is the fact that the vast majority in china is exploited for thier work and they basically have two social classes, rich and working for minimum wage. so basically yes i would much rater buy american goods over chinese even if it costs a littlebit more

If you are concerned with the inferiority of Chinese products, then don't buy them. If enough people are concerned enough, then enough will quit buying and that will lead to changes.
Let the market decide.
