Ok so ive seen this several times on tv. Someone will be asked if they are a virgen or if theyve had some type of sexual experience etc. and when the person that was asked the question says "Im a virgen" they get a weird look or get laughed at like its wrong to be one. Why do people think its weird or wrong to be one? I think that that is something that shuld be special and people should respect them for their choice.

I dont believe that its a good influence on teenagers because they might just go out and do so they wont be laughed at.

Because society tells them that having sex is okay. People, especially young people, are encouraged from every avenue to have sex. It's on TV, in car commercials even, on the radio, bill boards, radio, you name it. There's hardly a movie out there without some kind of lewd behavior. Kids are encouraged to engage in sex, raunchy and immoral behavior. Kids are taught "safe sex" practices and have condoms thrown at them. With movies out like "The 40 Year Old Virgin" kids are getting the message that staying pure is just plain uncool.
It's totally acceptable in today's society to be having sex at a young age, or for adults to be engaging in numerous sexual relationships.
It's sad really. I was a virgin until my wedding night. People made fun of me and made me feel so stupid. You know what, I never regretted my choice for one second. Virgins should be applauded. It takes a lot to keep yourself pure and not give in to peer pressure from friends and the urge of society to give in to whatever "feels good."
When your 25 and have multiple STD's, AIDS, or cervical cancer, and the emotional baggage that comes with casual sex your not going to be feeling good.
In addition to that, when you are ready to settle in to marriage your partner is going to have a hard time dealing with the problems all your previous flings brought.
Good for you for being a virgin. Don't give in, there are others just like you. Be encouraged! It's a hundred times better when you wait for it!

They get weird looks or get laughed at because it is so rare. I'm not saying the reaction is right, but that is just the way it is. An adult virgin is like someone with six toes. People just aren't used to seeing/hearing about it. And on TV, it wouldn't be the best entertainment for someone to say "I'm a virgin" and for the the response to be "That's not different at all."

I think the people who laugh at those who are virgins are the ones who need laughing at. Those people often think that they are the "king in the sac" and will try to put others down just to make their selves feel better. Same goes for girls who laugh at virgins. They are ignorant fools who have nothing better to do but to put people down to make their selves feel good.

it's not a crime to be a virgin, hon.
people are stupid, that's why they laugh or give weird looks in response to hearing someone is a virgin.
and maybe they regret that they had sex before they were even ready?
take care of YOU and don't worry about stupid people. wouldn't it be nice if there were an immunization for stupidity?
hugs...
