...just because she's a woman? Believe it or not, I was told by a female friend who knows nothing about politics, economics, or government that she would actually vote for Hillary "just because she's a woman" As unbelievable as it sounds, I wonder how common this type of thinking is in this country.

Too many...

It's ridiculous what some people base their votes on.

I think some folks will vote on this basis, though no more than those who will choose another candidate because they WON'T vote for a woman - it does cut both ways. But I believe most people take their vote more seriously than that. I'm voting for Hillary, but based on my belief that she is the best candidate. It's a nice aside that she's a woman, but it's not a factor in my decision. For instance, I would never vote for Condoleeza Rice, for any reason.

Very common. During the Kerry run, I heard (not read) interviews with people who said they were voting for him rather that Bush but could not name his wife, thought he was a Governor, did not know what state he was from, could not guess how long he had been a Senator or even knew he was a Senator. These are the Democrats' base. One of the reasons, I believe, that Dems hate talk radio is that the informed voter may not be inclined as much as the uninformed to vote for Democrats. Or maybe they just want the voters to be informed with only they want want them to know.

As a note, I have no problem with liberal talk radio. I just don't listen to it. I don't boycott the products advertised on their programs. I don't see it as a threat. Why do you suppose they see conservative talk radio as such?

Stupid people shouldn't vote, and your friend is dangerously stupid. If there were no women in the race she would probably vote for the cutest guy.

Ask her if she would vote for Paris Hilton "just because she is a woman" if Paris were running.

That might make her see the stupidity of her genitals based vote.

I don't vote for someone based on gender or race. I think this is very wrong.

Hillary is one I will NEVER vote for. She is a socialist witch. I listened to a couple of clips at the debate and she sounds like a pompous @ss where she thinks she's "God's gift" for saving the world!

I vote libertarian down the ticket, with total disregard for gender, race, religion, etc.

I know many people who would and do vote for people because they are women, minorities, etc. It's unAmerican, and I am ashamed to know them.

Never for Obama, and Hillary also stands no chance with me. I want to see America restored, not destroyed.

Not me. I will vote for the person I think is best for the job. I don't care about their hair, their teeth, their gender, or where or if they go to church.

I'm voting for her, but it has nothing to do with her being a woman.
