It's all based on a formula using the father's and the mother's income, how many children there are, etc. In my case, my wife pays $312/month for my three boys based on her income as a waitress; whereas if she had custody I would pay more than $2300/month!

It varies from state to state along with the number of children that you have. Check the website for your state and it should break the percentage down for you. The absent parent receives a credit for paying health insurance but the custodial parent also can include daycare and work related expenses into the formula the child support enforcement agency uses.

Too much. Women should not have children they can't support on their own. They try to dodge responsibility for their irresponsible breeding habits by reminding everyone that it is their "choice" to have or not have kids (never mind that the man has no decision about whether the woman can carry the kid to term). If women want to breed them, they need to take responsbility for all aspects of the kids life.
