Italia.
Am in Germany now, and have lived here, on and off, a couple of years, but I'd really like to move to Italy. Purtroppo, my Italian is still too bad.
And I wouldn't go to any of the touristy places. Italy looks "slim" but there are beautiful regions in that country which are not invaded by tourists. And then: Who am I but another foreigner who wants to be somewhere where there are no other foreigners ;)
The Oktoberfest, by the way, is one of the reasons why I LEAVE Munich in autumn. It's a nightmare.
But even if I would like to live in Italy now, this doesn't mean that one country is "better" than the other. It's just again time for a change and to meet new people and learn new things for me. I will come back here, though, as I go back to other countries where I've lived.
I somehow feel that I haven't yet found my "home".

Italy....nice place - I was at Lake Garda a couple of year ago - the people are so jolly & excitable - a tad pricey though... Germany is ok! too - but we all know about the German's - and their Towel on the sun lounger antics..

Oh, Italy without a doubt!
Beautiful country, great people, fantastic architecture, beautiful art.
Real crazy drivers, but you can't have everything.
I like Italy so much I'm learning the language.

I lived in Germany for 3 years it is very nice actually, it is very clean and very pleasant, the drivers aren't maniacs like they are in Italy.
But unfortunately it is full of Germans!!! and I had to drive to holland to buy some decent clothes so given the choice I would go to Italy.

Germany, definitely - I love ITaly and its culture, but a country that EVER allowed itself to be run by Silvio Berlusconi ist simply out of the question for me. Plus, they change their governments at the rate other people change their underwear. Ok, we have Angela Merkel, but at least our government is (mostly) stable.
