My overall view is that the parents are innocent of anything to do with her abduction and they are suffering enough already with the thought that they shouldn't have left her alone without other people judging them.

I think you make a good point, if this had been a single parent or someone unemployed and/or seemingly uneducated the british press would have definately slated them and their certainly would not have been any fund set up. Rightly or wrongly the McCanns have definately manipulated the media and taken full advantage. I think also the one thing we all agree on is those children should never had been left for any reason. Lets hope and pray that now the british police are out there assisting they will turn something up and the whole matter will be resolved and we finally learn the truth about that awful night.

The unpalatable truth is that guilty or innocent, the McCanns have turned this whole sorry tragedy into a circus with their globe trotting and probably totally futile antics. How on earth is an audience with the Pope going to do any good?
What really raised my hackles was something that happened just after that female journalist in Germany asked them if they had nay involvement or knowledge of what had happened.
A TV crew went to Scotland and interviewed Madeleine's grandfather. Now put yourself in this guy's place for a moment. His grandaughter is missing in a foreign country, probably abducted, possibly raped and murdered, and it has just been implied by a member of the press that her parents could be involved.
How would you react? Would you be upset? Angry? Tearful? Despairing? I would be all of these I think.
But this guy grinned and laughed his way through the interview like a performing chimp. He showed not one sign of grief or anger. He chatted away as if he was discussing the price of eggs or the weather forecast, not the abduction of his grandaughter.
It kind of coloured my perception about the entire McCann family I'm afraid.

I'm sure the parents are pretty much aware of their mistake.
Calling for their heads on a platter doesn't really solve the problem.
I think they are doing an effective job in keeping their daughter in the media.
It's up to the police to decide if a crime has been been committed and I wish the armchair militants would let them do their jobs!
It's untrue to say that if this happened to an unemployed junkie that it would be different, the McCanns have suffered an unprecedented backlash.
If the former did as much work to keep the topic in the media as these people have I think the results would be the same.
Sadly many are to busy blaming the parents than looking at the big picture of paedophilia, short sentences, Internet paedophilia etc and what we can do about it.

I think this such a sad thing to happen i would never leave my children alone but everyone makes there mistakes i think that the truth will come out eventually i just think madeleines parents just need to know the truth now if she is still live where is she and if not where is her body because if she is no longer alive they will be hoping for the rest af there lives that she is still alive and allthough this has completly changed there lives they will never rest without knowing

If she was abducted, the McCanns allowed that to happen by leaving their children alone, and that should not be forgotten.
The way they have behaved since she went missing is very strange, with the fund etc, and there are a lot of inconsistencies in their stories, which the police do not seem to be picking up on.
I wouldn't be surprised if the family did have something to do with it. I don't think they deliberately killed her, but I wouldn't be surprised at an accident, especially if reports are true about them giving the children sleeping pills, as an overdose would be very easy.

I think those parents are totally to blame.
They might be doctors or whatever they are but shouldnt they know how to look after children? They shouldnt have left her alone, but i think they have had something to do with her disapearence because whenever they have been on the news we have not cried once. Also, why are they going on tours of the world and having money donated? Is this going to get their daughter back? no.
I definatley think they're behind it all.

Cairn4lodge - you may have picked up on this but don't rip someone's head off for asking about it who has not been constantly glued to the YA website - typical cairn - yappy little sh*t!
As for the Q - I think its a real mess - the Portugese police should have asked for the specialist help offered a lot earlier and not got caught up on the kidnap theory - they have lost vital time and evidence. Who knows whether its someone Maddy knew or not - hopefully we will find out eventually.

The whole thing is a sordid set up by the parents who have spent the last few months reaping the benefits with world tours and stupid amounts of money in donation form. The vile pieces of **** have taken everyone for a mug........and yes, who WOULD leave their child alone in the first place? They really shot theirselves in the foot there!
CAIRN4LODGE......What would I do if I was in their situation? I would NEVER be in their situation because I WOULD NEVER leave my child alone in a strange place. As far as Im concerened they deserve everything they get! All I can think of is that poor little girl and the way her parents failed her!!!!!!! Get with it you fool, its blindingly obvious!
Oh and by the way............
''there will be other things you are guilty of taking a chance on but have so far been lucky''
You cheeky little sh*t, when it comes to the way I raise my children there will be no chances taken (just because that sentence probably applies to you, dont presume I am the same) How dare you!

I do not watch tv, so I am unaware of how "overworked" this subject is. When I first heard the details, all I could think was, "They should NEVER have left the child alone in the first place, no matter what."
Heartbreaking, truly.
