I personally am a rock fa, have been all my life. I like some rap music, the stuff that actually shows a form of feeling and expression. I can't stand music like "This is Why I'm Hot" and "Party Like a Rockstar." Most rap thats on the radio today is so commercialized in my mind its terrible. They seem to only want to make some money. I can't stand people who ask me why I don't like rap like this. It doesn't make any sense and its all just so bland and hard to listen to. There are so many great bands that go unnoticed because they do something different rather than talk about drugs or about being pimps or such...your thoughts? please state your opinion, I'm not going to pick an answer just because I like it, please give me your thoughts.

I really don't listen to rap. I think that the genre is pointless blathering about nothing. Most music today is that way, actually. Back when my parents were growing up and into their 20s, people made music with a message. Music challenged people to change the world around them. Both black artists and white artists alike were way more talented than so-called music artists today. Back then, they actually played insturments, they actually wrote some of their own music. Oh yeah! And they actually had to know how to sing. There was no lip-synching; no synthesizers making their voices sound better. That was music.
Sorry, I digress. You asked about rap. I hate rap music. I refuse to pay $10 for a CD so someone can cuss at me for 50 minutes. No way am I going to blast any song in my car with the words *****, h0e, or n!gga and think it's great. Rappers need to check themselves, big time. Their music is poison - not just to black youth but to everyone who listens to it.

Rap music is like any other kind of music; You have a handful of talented people out there making records at any given time and a whole lotta commercial crap rippin' it off. That is the way it is in any music form. If you are interested in rap, just dig around some, you'll find some interesting, original, and deep stuff out there. I have. I love rhythm and rhyme, spoken word poetry and clever takes on both old and modern issues and that is what good rap is all about.

The form of rap music nowadays are still about drugs, sex, girls, violence, and money. Rapping is just telling a story and different from other music. I think the cuss words I find it really bad, because people underage are listening to it, and are getting influnced by the words, and seems it is okay to start using it too. The society upon rap music, doesn't give a strong message only about hate and just being rich.

Well those are YOUR thoughts. Apparently you are ignorent in this category. You haven't heard every single rap song in the world. You just heard the wrong ones. Rap is the second best genre of music next to R&B. Then you have the rap legends. Tupac, Biggie, Eminem. Then theres the favorites. Lil Wayne, T.I., Kanye West, Nas, Rick Ross, 50 cent, Lupe Fiasco, The Game.

Yes, rap on the radio is commericalized crap. Look into some underground rappers, believe it or not there ARE actually rappers that having intelligent rhymes. Some rap about politics or just life in general. It is unfortunate that most are about blunts, 40's, and beotches....

But then look at rock at his highest point...Sex and Drugs, any better?

i really do get what you're saying. commercialization is annoying. however, contrary to popular belief, there is more to rap than just mainstream. some rappers talk about things other than cars, money, and women. one example is immortal technique. they talk about the government and their views on it, all while maintaining an amazing flow. i'm a music person, so the last thing i'd want to do is say one type of music is bad--i just personally prefer underground rap to mainstream.

i agree to a point. i am a fan of rap and R&B. however some of the songs coming out now(and becoming "hits") are ridiculous. Listen to some older Jay-Z and you mights actually give rap a chance. I hope you enjoy

i agree. i know some of it is ok like fort minor and jay z and stuff but lots of it is utter s**t. my 11yr old brother just started getting into rap and hip hop music and i dont think its a good influence to kids like that. espically in the videos where its degrading to women and all.
