not exactly you can wrap your fingers around something or wrap them on an object. or in the old days they used to wrap your fingers with a ruler in school for being naughty in class.

I believe you mean "wrap AROUND your fingers" which means you've allowed the person who's supossed to submit to control you. "Cross your fingers" actually means hope for a good outcome to a not-so-good situation.
