I doubt that you would find anywhere to rival what Florida has to offer in Europe, however there is an excellent place called Mundomar ( which means Sea World ) at Benidorm in Spain. It has mainly seals and sea lions, dolphins, penguins and aviaries but it's a great place and all the animals are obviously well looked after.

There are Sea Life Centres all over Europe, here is a link to see where:

I can recommend the National UK Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, UK and also the Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary in Oban, Scotland
I have been to both and they are big and very good.

we went to one in tenerife, called loro parque. we had a fantastic day out there, dolphin show, and sea-lion show were great, the indoor penguin arena was brilliant with snow falling from the roof. then the giant underwater experience where you walk through a glass tunnel with sharks swimming overhead, all in all fabulous.it possibly comes no where near to America,Ive never been..but its another option for you, plus you can explore the island. one downside is see how there going with the bush fires....enjoy yourselves whatever choice you make.

There's the Ocean place (I forget the exact name) at the Expo '98 site which is close to Lisbon, Portugal, I was there recently and it is a wonderful place.

Lisbon is a lovely holiday destination, I really enjoyed staying there and would love to go back. The Portuguese rock!
