well, I'm on medicaid, reason being..we were in the process of getting medical insurance when I found out I was pregnant, as a result, no one would except me, we had a hard time getting approved too, but finally did. its no different then any other insurance for us, except right now we don't have to pay for it, but I get to go to an actual doctor (alot of people believe you can only go to the health department) and the treatment is the same, especially with the obgyn, alot of people told me they would only give me one ultrasound being on medicaid, but they were wrong, you get as many as the ob thinks you need, and I get to have my baby in a hospital, there are alot of rumours that its at a birthing center which isn't true, its basically the same as having medical insurance, only difference is you are not paying for it, and 2 months after you have the baby your medicaid is cancelled, my opinion is, that maybe instead for someone like me who could afford to pay a little bit, instead of paying nothing, should have to pay something, maybe not as much as regular insurance cost, but not get it for free either. for instance, my daughter is on peachcare, and its the same as any other insurance, she goes for yearly checkups and to a real pediatrician, but once she turned 6 we started paying a monthly fee., here in ga, it doesn't work any differently other than the pay. now, I'm not on wic, we could have qualified for it, but we can afford food, so there was no reason for us to try and get it. as far as experience with it, it has been great, and they were very helpful.

I have insurance through the state-medicaid. I looked into insurance for my 3 kids and most places wanted almost $300 a month per child but gave you little co-pay, others you could pay less per month but then you were stuck paying a certain % of the bill each time you went...like for example I had an insurance like that at one time..took my oldest in for immunizations, after the insurances coverage I still had to pay over a $100 before leaving the office. Through the state of Florida, they base your monthly premium on your monthly income. Best is to contact your local medicaid office, they'll tell you everything you need to get started. Some pay 0 for it some pay more, I pay $20 per month to cover all 3 kids. For the oldest 2 (ages 5 & 10) it also includes dental. I pay 0 for primary care visits, $5 for speciality care and $10 for ER. My youngest who is 3 does not get dental yet. But I am forever grateful for having medicaid, my youngest son who is 3 was diagnosed with autism in mid June it didn't cost me a cent for a month of evaluations and soon he'll be starting therapy...without being covered by the state I don't know how we'd ever be able to pay for this. My husband is the only one working, he makes good $ but there's just no way we can get the proper coverage for our kids without going through the state, especially for our son with autism. The state has been great, they have been so helpful to me in finding proper care for my son with autism that is covered by the state . I don't regret having them covered one bit.
I also had state insurance for myself when I was pregnant with my last son. I had a condition called hydramnios (too much amniotic fluid). Every week I had to have an ultrasound done then go to the hosiptal afterwards and do stress tests. The state covered every bit of it including my post-partum checkup. I dont' what we would of done if we would of had to pay for those bills.

Another thing that is good about it, if you ever get canceled from it or you cancel it, you get reimbursed for part of your premiums (long ago when I had it before and when I canceled it they sent me a check for over $400).

I have WIC and Medicaid is what it's called in North Carolina..I lost my job when I found out I was pregnant and we definitley didn't have enough money for a baby at the time. It's wonderful, but I won't be on it after he's born.

I make too much to get anything anymore...but there's Medicaid, and individual states usually have programs for health insurance. Food stamps. Health Dept. in general for medical needs. There are also programs to help with heating bills, child care and other things if you qualify.

We had NO money with my first bay and I had government health insurance. They covered everything and then bought me a breast pump.

Other than that I have no idea
