I just ordered some new polished aluminum rims for my truck because I've had problems with chrome plating peeling off chrome rims in the past. I've heard many products can take the finish off polished aluminum and was wondering what is the best product to use without taking away the shine?

Is a youngster I owned a set of American Torque Thrust wheels and I appreciate the care you want to give your new aluminum wheels.

I've had really outstanding luck with a product called Flitz. It's a cleaning / polishing compound that comes in either a large toothpaste tube or a tall plastic jar.
They also offer a polishing bonnet that's a serrated man made fiber ball that attaches to a 3/8 battery powered or electric drill. This bonnet has a shield that neatly wraps around the drill chuck and Velcro strips hold the wrap together. The polishing ball is the size of a softball but will neatly conform to all shapes and sizes. It's completely re-washable and reusable.
The polishing paste is nothing short of amazing when used with the bonnet. You can do everything by hand but the bonnet makes short time of the project.
