Well, there are the spray bottle containers of weed killer out there, most are good, but all contain chemicals you may not want a pet or small child running through, let alone yourself. You might consider investing in an Organic lawncare service. They are relatively new and offer lawn treatments that are environmentally friendly, while at the same time providing pretty effective weed control and fertilization for the existing grass that you do want to keep. I'd go to a good garden center, and ask for some help and advice about lawn care, see what they recommend. Or research the matter online with keywords, environmentally safe lawn care. Good luck.

In your situation I would get some round up and kill the yard, once it is dead rake it all out you should be able to pick it up and bag the weeds as there will be no pollen but do not put it in a compost pile, either till up the yard or have it done rake it out again, at this point decide where you might want flowerbed or a vegetable garden then seed your yard and keep it watered, once established over seed the spots that didn't take again once the grass is established use a form of weed and seed fertiliser to help control the weeds and you should have a nice yard.
I know it sounds like allot of work but it will be worth it in the end.
I hope I helped with you question.

You can purchase a string trimmer. It cuts the weeds off low to the ground without using chemicals. If you have trouble with allergies you may want to hire a neighborhood kid to do it for you when you are affected the most. A string trimmer is worth it's weight in gold as it can save a lot of time trimming around the edges of plant beds and around objects in your yard. They come in gas or electric models. The electric ones have the advantage of weighing less but you have to drag an extension cord around behind you.
You can also purchase chemical weed killers that won't kill grass. You can purchase them to use with a pump sprayer (some of them don't even require you to pump them anymore. They operate using air pressure). Or for large areas, there are some that you can attach to a garden hose.
Using these products can become expensive compared to getting a string trimmer in the long run though..

Go to any lawn and garden store and get some weed killers and a sprayer. If you're not a do-it-yourselfer, then look in your phone book and call a lawn service. They have special herbicides that kill the weeds, but leave the grass and trees intact. Sounds like you'll need some major landscaping, however, to establish your lawn. Then it would be a good idea to have a lawn service on a regular basis to keep it looking good and thriving.

First of all make sure you get the weed killer that does not kill grass too!!!!!
At walmart or lowes Spectricide makes a attach-to-the-hose weed killer spray that can easily used to kill the weeds and not hurt the lawn.
You can also use a weed wacker.
The spray weed killer will help stop the weeds from comming back too.

Why don't you find an herbalist in your area and have them harvest the "weeds". Most people who use herbal remedies would LOVE to have your stock. That way, you not only get rid of them, but you are also helping out sick people as well. That's what I would do if I had a lot of weeds to get rid of... Actually, my best friend would have a field day!!! Are you anywhere close to NY? :o)

Try weed and feed for lawns? Or you can spot spray Roundup on the largest weeds. Might leave bare spots in your lawn though.
