First off you must learn the difference between there and their.
The US is the dominant power in this world because of its military power. (not that this power is being used properly)
I don't expect history to look kindly at this fact unless the text books are written by American authors.
I think we must use a different yard stick to assign political power in this world. The world needs to look up to something better than violence in order to lesson the strife worldwide.
The UN should be used properly and a severe penalty meted our for rogue states such as the US. The veto in the UN should also be abolished to allow democracy to work in the UN.
I would also like to suggest that any country at war not to be allowed a vote until their war is stopped.
Penelope -- Canada is not a socialist country. It is a democracy that provides for its people. After all, this is what nations do. This is not to say we don't have problems but we are working toward fixing what needs fixing.
Truth sayer -- relax a bit.
Guffeetax -- Since when has the US been a moral leader? My God that's off the wall.

America is not the most powerful nation in the world.
If we were, we wouldn't have so much trouble finding Osama Bin Laden.
Anybody remember that name? Yes, he was the reason this entire war was started in the first place.
Not Iraq or Saddam Hussein like the Bush Administration and the Media is putting so much emphasis on.
I believe Iraq may just be a scapegoat because the all-powerful America couldn't find a single man so they had to demonstrate their power elsewhere.

um ... huh? what's there to open their eyes to? what would be the misunderstanding? America spends more on the military than all other countries combined so it's a no brainer as to why America is the dominant world power. might may not make right but it sure makes it easier to be a successful bully.

what's the reason? i'm interested. i think it has to do with many things. geographically we were removed from WW1&2 and all of Europe was devestated by these wars at the end of these 2 wars the US really had the opportunity to rise as a world power. the soviet union was the only other power since then and it collapsed on itself.

Uh.....you are aware that America is a mere babe in the relative age of nations, right?
Ever hear of "The Fall of the Roman Empire?" And other than the hype, how much do you really know about when Russia folded?
You should read all the details.
It's pretty much item by item the path that we are on right now. Go ahead - I dare you. Read all about it.

We are the worlds only superpower, we also used to be the worlds moral guide, that is now lost due to bush jr. I hope we learn from history and never allow any president to alter the constitution at his whim, never allow a president to torture innocents again and never allow a president to insulate himself from the people he represents.
