It's part of the job.
A landlord who gets teary eyed because their tenant lost his job or can't make the bills, and lets the person stay eventually fails to pay his mortgage, and the bank forecloses.
Most landlords are merely trying to protect their investment.

Not all lanlords are
But saying that , I had a landlord that went further than that , Well should I say , a person that claimed to be my landlord
He evicted me , while I was in hospital , without notice , he changed the locks , and in fact re let the house , with my property still inside , dumped my puppy , out onto the street ,
He worked in such a way , that he claimed my tenancy was forged , he used the same solictors as my local Council , dispite , the firm agreeing to act on my behalf ,
My local Council , did nothing , dispite knowing all the facts ,
They failed in there duty , towards me
The case is still on going , as I want answers ,
I have been to the Courts , Council , Police , MP , Tony Blair , Gorden Brown , and even the Queen , but as yet nothing
Why ? because when it comes to owning up to corruption , the Govenment don't belive in it
The landlords name was Mr H. Lal , the solictors were Woodfine's and the Council were Bedford
ps The Council will not even take me to court over non payment of Council Tax , because they whould loss ,

Let me ask you a question, how would you feel if you fixed up your home and rented to someone and they trashed your home stopped paying rent and they will not leave. First you have to get a lawyer to get them out and that can take between 2-6 months and around $2,000-$3000, in the mean time you still have to make the mtg payments. You take them to court and get a judgement (big deal) they don't have anything. Now you get them out and start fixing it up again, painting new carpet ect. Most states landloard tenant laws are on the side of the tenant That is why we are such a*#@holes!!!! We not running a god d*&e F*@%king charity.

I am a landlord and I've done it because my husband and I dont have a company pension scheme to fall back on as we are self employed. We did take out a pension with an insurance company, but its useless, so we saw this as a way of trying to ensure we have a reasonable standard of living in retirement. To do this, we have had to remortgage our own home to get a deposit together so we've taken a risk in order to do it.
I'm a very fair minded person, respectful of other people and do my utmost to adopt rules to suit certain types of people. It doesn't always work, however, because I have tenants who are like minded and the arrangement works, and then I get disappointed with life in general when I get some mindless tenant who thinks they can constantly take the mickey by not paying rent, trashing property, dealing drugs, causing nuisance etc. Sadly, I'm too trusting and it just doesn't work. So, no, we are not all ****holes - but we do have a lot to contend with!!! And believe me, I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't have to - it's my way of trying to safeguard my lifestyle for the future.

I am sorry but ive read all the answers you have received and cant belive what i have read i am a tennant and have been for 6 years i have lived in several houses and have spent thousands getting them nice for me and my family my rent has never been late ever! and i have never caused any damage to the propertys but still when we have asked the landlords to fix much needed repairs e.g roofs all we have received is every exscuse under the sun i am yet to meet a decent landlord they are all out for one thing that is your cash and they all dont want to spend it back on the house because as I know and they know all they do is rent it out till the house doesnt stand them to much and no one else will rent due to the state of the house then just sell it to the highest bidder they are all ar*#@holes i wonder why i bother ???

Because it is a business and they are not trying to be your friend. You both agreed to certain terms in the lease contract you signed. If you disagree with how your landlord is treating you read the lease. If you agreed to that behaviour then perhaps you are being the a$$hole?

Because they are- they are just out to make money out of people who have no options other than to rent privately. The thing is as a tenant is to know the letting laws inside out and then you can have them by the short and curlies.

As a landlord myself, I will simply say all of us aren't that way.
I will also say that I tend to treat tenants they same way they treat me and my property. ie you get what you give

Because they have to deal with tenants who don't pay their rent on time and don't take care of the property.
