Using Ethernet (the cable is actually called Cat5) is better, more reliable, and faster. But then, it's not portable like WiFi is. This is what they call a "trade-off".

Ethernet is always faster and more reliable than wireless. You don't get drop connection or have any other problems with it. It's a setup and forget about it type of connection. The only advantage wireless have over ethernet is mobility and that's all.

Ethernet is definitely much faster than wireless. However your speed is entirely decided by your internet connection. If your internet connection is say 5 Mbps, either ethernet or wireless will be fine. However ethernet can go upto 1 Gbps and Wireless theortical maximum speed is 108 Mbps.
Obviously, wireless gives you freedom to roam around.

Ethernet is much better, reliable and faster but if you have multiple number of computers then wireless is more sensible.
