Broadband is the technology. DSL, and Cable are a couple of the delivery systems of that technology.

DSL, ADSL, Cable, ect. are all Broadband.

It sounds as though you are using Dialup which is pre Broadband. it is Very slow compaired to Broadband, IE 56KPS vs 6Mbs. Most companies now offer up to 6MB.

DSL is a type of high speed internet connection that runs over your PHONE LINES, but is notably faster than dial-up.

Does your internet modem plug into a phone jack, or does it look like a round coax television cable is going into the modem? If it's going into a phone jack, then it's likely DSL. If it looks like a TV cable then you have cable broadband.

Cable Broadband tends to offer more download bandwidth than DSL, thus it tends to seem faster, but it depends on who your internet service provider is, and whether they force any bandwidth limits on your account.

I hope that helps,
GL

Sounds to me like you have dial-up.
And DSL IS broadband.
Broadband basically means high-speed internet - FAST. Faster than dial-up anyhow.
