Why is it that Harry Potter (the character) is more "emotionally sensetive" than most real boys his age?

Haha...weird question, I know. I was watching one of the movies last night and thinking, "teenage boys aren't usually this emotional..."

I'm not sure he's more emotionally sensitive. He's just been placed in sensational situations--ones that would hit anyone's emotions. He's famous-with everything that goes with that, and gets put in emotionally wrenching situations and has friends in peril all the time, not to mention getting made fun of or lied about when all he did was do the right thing. Also, JK lets us into his head often--most of the 'emotionally sensitive' stuff in the HP books isn't outward actions--it's his internal monologue--if we couldn't see inside his brain, he might not seem too sensitive.

I think he showed his normalcy and immaturity in book IV when he couldn't figure out how to ask for a date.

You are/were hainging out with the wrong teenage boys.

But having gone to an English Boarding School (Thing Hogwarts, without the magic). If HP acted the way he does, in a real boarding school, he'd get the crepe beaten out of him on a regular basis.

There is a whole nuther world of boys at boarding school, that no girl is ever going to see, and it's pure evil. No boy can be as open & emotionally sensitive & maintain that central position in any social group.
