I see lot of questions and answer about terrorism, 9/11 and all, everybody just likes to talk, but when the time comes to defend US or show patriotism people tend to get bored with it or change their minds, why is that?
After 9/11 everywhere you looked there were American flags, but after 3 months later, flags that filled the streets were no where to be found. Out of instinct, or hatred against terrorism, people signed up for military, but a year later many wanted to back off in their promise and we still see many of them on media, people running away or hiding, because they are thinking they made a mistake. where is the nationalism in US? i feel sorry for the country of this greatness, country deserves more!

I call people like that "fair weather patriots." I think most citizens would fight in the event of an attack but after awhile the zeal wears off and you see their true colors. A true patriot would stop what they are doing and defend their country despite who is in the oval office.

I still believe in Nationalism, I still love the Red , white and Blue.. ahhhhhhhh but, I look at America in a way now that I did not even 10 years ago. Our political system is a joke. A certian fraction controls the Nation... The Clinton and the Bushes. Every one thinks Dollar Bill was a great effective President. He was the President who allowed VOTE 2000 to happen. I am now looking into the eyes of an America run by 2 power families, a crime ridden drug infested uneducated infrastructure. Who can not believe in nationalism because they spend to much time trying to rip off the other guy or making a Zillion Bucks instead mending the american fence, don't crap where you eat.Hillary will be president 2 terms there is no doubt. But what about the Idea of 20 years of Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Clinton, Clinton???? whats wrong with that picture. Change your Party become an Independent the Dem's and Republicans are full of it, they have been overthrowing your government for years, kill the electorical College and do like the State elections do win by popular voter no so an electorials vote can not be bought by the next President of the united states with more power ever. Aren't you scared??? you should be! if Not Check Your IQ
The Bushes have Iraq and the Clinton's clearly own Whitewater and America, and thy BS you with the thought of a woman President where both families know about the Comittee of 300 and the shadow President.

This is true, after 9/11 the country put aside all its differences to unite against a greater evil...
This would still be the case if it wasn't for the Bush administration. The government itself is what killed that patriotism.
All the lies, cover-ups, etc. is what made people realize that this 'government' is not worth fighting for.
I will be the first to admit that I'm am one of those people you speak of.
I signed up for the National Guard and backed out on the day I was supposed to swear in (Oct.15, 2004)...
And what opened my eyes was Ferenheit 9/11. YES, a MOVIE. But it made me realize that BUSH was not going to sucker me into leaving my family behind just so he can make his wallet larger...
You will see that this country will rise again as soon as the Bush Administration is out of office...
I'm sorry to have to agree with "the country of this greatness, country deserves more." That should never be an issue, yet here we are.
Nationalism is still in the heart of most Americans but is suppressed due to the government.

i believe it's b/c our government lost sight of what we were fighting...it became less about fighting terrorism and more about fighting a country for no good reason. when 911 shook America people were united in getting revenge on osama bin laden. I'm sure very few people had a problem with going to get him. But when bush invaded Iraq many people stopped supporting the war because they believed it was unnecessary.

BTW, nationalism for the sake of nationalism is a horrible idea. Hitler had a nationalistic country. It is a great thing that Americans can decide not to support a war, instead of being culturally pressured to agree with the government on every issue. the fact that we can disagree with the government, that is what makes our country great.

Well, people are torn between left and right that they don't see the overall picture. They would rather not show patriotism because a republican is president.

In my opinion, if a dem was president, I wouldn't want to show patriotism.

Us Americans need to look past political parties and start looking at our future, cause if we don't band together as one against these terrorists, we will fall.

Country of greatness? Are you joking? Take a look at it from the outside.
The nationalism is slowly dying down because 9/11 was carried out by the Bush administration and people are gradually learning this fact.
Good luck in your steep dive. Weeeeeeee!

My flag is still flapping in the wind out in front of my home and as long as I can afford to keep an undamaged flag on that toll poll, it will stay there !
Start at home in your own back and front yard -continue to be patriotic, by supporting our Country in the face of those who spout hate and division !

It's because an outside threat will always unify the tribe.

Infighting will eventually bring out factional politics when the threat is over (as it is perceived to be now)
