bullying in american schools.......i've worked in pediatric emergency rooms and have seen what "bullying" leads to ....."attempted murder" charges, this in a middle school. parents who think it's just "a rite of passage. lack of discipline at home obviousl cause of the problem and lack of corporal punishment allowed by teachers in the school. i think more freedoms should be allowed teachers and bring these kids down a notch....there is a huge difference between child abuse and discipline and enough is enough....kids aren't disciplined anymore and they quickly pick out and destroy the weak, the bookworms (who will be our future leaders)

Bullying and violent TV shows, video games and music which serve as the inspiration. One need only look at the school shootings at Columbine and Virginia Tech to see the reason why this is. Also, when people are bullied, it does a lot to hurt their confidence and self-esteem, especially if you have a disability like Tourettes. And when some of these people cannot turn to their parents or family members for guidance or affection to help them through this, they often end up feeling suicidal. Bringing up the issue of bullying in schools and the consequences of it is important, and may reduce the number of annual teenage suicides.

Bullying is more of a problem
Defacing is a behavior
TV/Media contribute to Bullying which is an attitude. To me, reality TV, the news, the constant media involving violence and the thought that some people are entitled contributes to bullying. If everyone is out for themselves why not bully. If we are out to help one another bullying has no place

I say the violence that is glamorized by TV shows. Bullying has been going on forever. It's a way that we learn to better deal with life. However, in more recent years, it's become more and more of a problem in that they get just downright vicious! I think that if kids have a good sense of themselves (given to them by their parents) then there would be less of a problem with the bullying affecting them.

Bullying in schools. This is the most pressing issue because if nothing else will leave a permanent scare on a young impressionable person. At worst may set of a horrible disaster as Columbine. I feel that our young are our most valuable resource and to not protect them with metal detectors, and even armed guards is a mistake.

Do you mean a more frequent problem, a more serious problem, or a more wide-reaching problem? Bullying and violence on TV are probably related, and there is a lot of research documenting the negative effects of exposure to violence on TV. Still, I'd say bullying is the worst, because it can be so traumatizing to kids.

I suppose bullying. From my experience it doesnt happen THAT often, but when it does, teachers counselers and parents do absolutely NOTHING about it.
Any kid who will become violent because of a TV show was insecure in the first place though, and was bound to be a screwed up kid, with or without TV.

Bullying in schools has to account for more misery than anyone really knows. Back in my day,I used to beat bullies up until they stopped picking on other kids. Now days of course, that isn't allowed. Plus, apparently the schools don't really give any help to those who are bullied. Bullying can result in terrible psychological scars.
Defacing currency has been happening since currency was invented.I don't notice nay huge social problem resulting.
As for violence on TV? Unless there is a responsible parent sitting right next to his/her kid as she watches, explaining how violence is usually not warranted(see"bullying"),then s/he is in for a lot of trouble with the kid. We were allowed to read/watch anything in our house as kids, and none of us grew up to be serial murderers. It is up to the parent or responsible adult to EXPLAIN things to children.

The violence on television of course. I believe the TV shows helped most criminals to commit their crimes cause they have seen it done on TV and acted out the scene in real life.

Bullies are a way of life, learn to deal with it.
if somebody wants to waste their money, let them.
Parents/caretakers should monitor kids' programming because it almost directly influences behavior even for a short amount of time.
