Depends on where your woods are, but it's likely. Coyotes are making comebacks all over the US. I've seen one in suburban Boston, and know them to be living in the woods of Kentucky.
Anywhere there are small things to catch and eat, whether chickens and rabbits or your pet cat, and garbage to scavenge.
They're not just desert animals like you might think.

The Canis type coyotes are getting around all over the place and being wylie they can get into anybodies woods. Now then if you were in Southwest Texas you could tell if a coyote was around real quick like. They'd be trailin' a whole bunch of illegals behind them as they crossed your property.

Depending on where you live but most likely yes, as many may recall a coyote hopped into a cooler at Quizno's in Chicago earlier this year... they're everywhere, especially in forests... Not to worry though Coyotes are completely harmless to humans, if you have a small dog/vat keep them indoors at night and you're fine

Quite possible, sure. It depends on where you live. I've seen coyotes in many diverse places like the woods, in my front yard and on the side of the highway (no, it wasn't dead). They can live virtually anywhere and are certainly nothing to be afraid of.

Yes. Heck, I am in the woods in NJ and we have Coyote!
But no sweat, they are skittish of people, and generally too small to tackle a person anyway.

they are everywhere, i live in indiana and i see them all the time and i am not "in the sticks" or anything. i see them crossing the road more often than deer anymore. I don't know where you are from but around here there are so many sub divisions going up that the coyotes are coming right into our neighborhoods...watch your small animals ! They don't generally attack adults unless there is something wrong with them.

Yes, I lived in the woods as a kid, and we had coyotes there.
According to this edu site, coyotes are known to live in canyons, deserts and mountains (wouldn't that be WOODS?).
