.56 * .8 = .448

.50 - .448 = .0512

.0512 / .2 = 25.6 %

you need a 25.6%

.2x + .56(.8) = .5
Solve for x,
x = .26 = 26%, the % on the provincial exams you need just to pass 50%.

I'm assuming the negative is a typo since you can't have a negative percentage grade...

.8(.56) +.2(x) = .50
x = 26% 20% or better on the exams will give you a grade of 50% or better for the year.

.8 * 56 + .2 * n = 50
44.8 + .2*n = 50
.2 * n = 5.2
n = 26

Make a 26 to have a 50 overall
