My ex hurt me badly. However each year all of our mutual friends would invite us to the annual party weekend--rent a big house, everyone comes. It's usually between 20 and 30 of us and every year we hoped the other wouldn't show up. We spent the entire time we spoke trying to one up the other. Hows your relationship? So sorry to hear, mine is perfect. He treats me fabulously. This went on for YEARS until we could finally get past the hatred. So it could be calling just to make sure you are more miserable without him than he is.
However a ex that I loved and we separated b/c we weren't wanting to marry each other--about every 6 months we talk to each other b/c we just got tired of being alone. He'd have a girlfriend and it wouldn't work out and he'd realize how much worse she was than me. It would make him miss what we had. Not that it solves the problems that were in our relationship, but it was pretty damn good when you start looking at other people. He could be calling b/c he misses the good times you had together--after time usually the bad stuff fades and the good is what you reflect on.
It could just be sex. Perhaps the sex that you've had in the last 6 months just wasn't as good as the sex the two of you had together b/c of how well you knew each other.

You say because in that amount of time(6months) you should have had other sexual relations.
What a twisted society we live in.
Ever hear of saving the greatest gift you could possibly give someone, for marriage?
Apperently not.
Try a relationship without sex. Because if it survives, you will know your marriage will and you wont be part of the stats.

Well, it could be for sex, and it could be that he realised he can't live without you. What did he say on the phone? I would need a little more info.
But, like I said, he could either be despreate for sex, can't live without you, or can't stand being single, and alone.

How about you just legitimately miss her and like her and wonder how she's doing? Nothing wrong with a bit of reminiscing.
