One of only two players ever to be banned for proved ball tampering. In November 2006 was banned for 2 years for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. 1 month later, Pakistan Cricket Board drop the ban. Three years previously he was arrested and illegal performance enhancing drugs removed from his home. No charges brought. Inzman el Haq, Pakistan captain and team mate, said he suspected Akhtar of using drugs. Nothing done.
No other National sporting body in any sport worldwide would allow this to happen. Only the Pakistan Cricket Board. Their attitude is who cares if we let cheats play, as long as we win. This in a world where all governing bodies are determined and working together to make cheats pay. But not the PCB
Should he be allowed to play in the world cup?

Thank you all for telling me how great a bowler Akhtar is. I never said he wasn't. Yet not one of you commented on my question, which was should a known drug taker and convicted cheat be allowed to play? You all just ingored those points. But what you also did was to agree with me when I said the PCB, is the only sporting body in the whole world of all sports, that would allow a drug cheat to have no ban. You have proved that you are all just as bad sportspeople as the PCB. You have no interest in sport at all. SPORT!!! You have forgotton what sport is all about, and want Pakistan to win at all costs even if by cheating.
To the person who said that all Cricket bodies have problems, that was not my question. If you want to ask questions about other cheats do so. My question was the about the convicted cheat Shoaib Akhtar

Eazey, Thanks, but I am not interested and did not comment on how he conducts his personal life. I really don't care. Why did you not answer my comment about PCB not banning a known drug taker, and what effect does it have on the 20 20 cup allowing a convicted call tampering cheat to play.

Sher Khan, what planet are you on? I never said he wasn't a great bowler, I did not metion his ability. I simply asked why the cheat did not get a ban for taking drugs. If you are so ingnorant that you do not know fact that he is one of only two cricketers in the whole world to get banned for illegal ball tampering because the evidence was overwhelming then you know nothing about the game of cricket. Check it out yourself. It is a matter of public record, not my opinion, it is fact, so don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, it is you who is ignorant in these matters

Nonesense inspector.
Every cricket board has problems & yet you talk rubbish about the world's fastest bowler of all times.
Shoaib Akhtar is the best bowler & yes he encouter few problems however, Shoaib Akhtar will clean bowl any Indian batsman anytime, anywhere.
He is also cleared to participate into 20/20 final therefore inspector, Shoaib Akhtar will destroy all evil September 14, 2007.

Yes well he is an excellent player and they need him but only today again he got fined because he left a training camp without permission. He would've been a true great if he didn't live this playboy lifestlye.
Its disgusting that the selectors left out Yousuf and Razzaq. Two of the better players and they go for Misbah?? They're just a pathetic joke!!

I too feel that it was unfair on the part of PCB to life the ban imposed on Shoaib Aktar and Mohd. Asif and their decision is against the interest of the game.

Shoib Akhtar was banned for two years for taking drugs, illiegelly. But then his ban was lift but the other player banned was still banned. I don't know why his was lifted, and not the other, but if he plays in the twenty20 cup, then that puts England Out of the picture of winning!!

i think of it could have been greater appropriate If Mohammad Sami could have been picked rather of Shoaib Akthar , it could basically Be a benefit for the group if he Regains His %. & velocity in any different case His unfastened Deliveries are of little need .

Chance of Pakistan winning the cup increased drastically because of Shoiab's inclusion.
Still he is the best bowler for Pakistan.
There is no doubt the Pakistan will bend over backward to include him in the team.
