i'm watching the movie "Valient" nd it's about carrier pigeons...did WW2 actually use carrier pigeons? if so...did they use them for just sending secret messages or wat? just curious thanks.

Yes, perfectly true, i live in a old house by the seaaside in Devon UK and we have a tower on the side of the house that was built with the house for that very reason!

It's absolutley true!
The pigeons were generally used to carry messages about the war and other such sensitive correspondence.

Absolutely true, used by the military, as well as by news agencies to get messages out when using radio was forbidden or would give the positions away. Very useful little birds.

yes they did my dad was in ww2 told me about it and much more stories they used them for messages but the germans got wiss to it and used falcons to kill the pigeons

Yes, and might even be handy today, as your electronic communications could be tapped into. Think of just sending a coded message or a pic! No one would suspect such a thing. Thanks for the qn.
