What is happening is absolutely normal and yes you're feeling your baby moving. The fact that you're overweight has everything to do with the fact that you don't feel the baby moving stronger. The thinner you are the more you feel the baby.

Everything is gonna be fine.Don't worry at all.Take care :)

while weight is a factor I don't think it's a huge one... I'm 24 weeks also Due on 11-25-07 and I'm overweight I wore like a size 14-16 before I got Pregnant... I've been feeling movements from the outside since week 19!! Now I can feel the shape of his leg/foot if I have my hand firm on my belly and he kicks!! and I can also watch my belly move as he kciks around ( this is my second child ) the kicks are alot stronger and there are a whole lot more of them with this pregnancy though my first son moved and kicked but not like this!!
during my Ultrasound my Ob said the placenta was very high and the baby was laying in front of it facing out ...I could exspect to feel more kicks so maybe your baby isn't as active Or maybe your baby is behind your placenta or even yet maybe you baby is facing your back there for you wouldn't really feel a whole lot of kicking , but rather him/her just shifting around.
you shouldn't worry!! what you should do is keep a kick/ movment journal...
note whatever part of the day he/she does the most movement, everyday at that time you should make time to sit down and count the movements /kicks for 20-30 minutes
write it down they say to exspect 10 within this time period... everyday about the same time do this... if you notice a dramatic change... no movement, or very little contact your doctor.
they recommend doing this from 28 weeks on..but if your worried now it will give you peace of mind. and if there should be a problem at least you'll have something to back you up rather than just I'm worried " which your doctor will probably take more seriously"
there are others like you come check out this site love it!!
www.i-am-pregnant.com they have a place for you to talk to other women that are the same week as you check out the week to week pages
best of luck!

I've heard that your weight can definetly affect how soon you feel the baby move and how hard or soft those movements are. I am 25 weeks now and started feeling my baby move around 11 or 12 weeks pregnant but I started out very under weight. Now the movements are very strong. I'd say ask your doctor but dont worry as long as you have felt some movement I'm pretty sure the lil one is in there dancing around!

Yes, being over weight has a lot to do with it. You cant feel as much on your insides as you can on your skin, its the ripples of movement that reach the skin that cause the most sensation.

However, you'll still get those kicks and jabs. Its very possible that the baby is positioned facing the placenta, which absorbs most of the energy from the movements.

If you're concerned, ask for a non stress test and an US to make sure the baby is growing, its heart rate is good.

Few points to remember.

1. Atleast once a day u should feel some strong movements.
2. Resst of the time if the movements are slight..... bbut u can feel it.... then nothing to worry.
3. Good movements mean.... around 10-20 kicks/moves.
4. If u feel like baby isnt moving good enough. Try this trick. Drink a large glass of some sweet drink. Not fizzy but something sweet. Orange juice with sugar... or any healthy juice with strong sweetness in it. Drink it. Lay on ur bed.... annd roll on ur side. Right and then left. Baby would definitely move faster. If nothing happens in 30 minutes... go to ur doc immediately.

When i was pregnant with my twins..... my doc told me all these things. coz i used to get panic attacks if i dont feel them move. And believe me.... these things always worked for me.

I hope it will work for u too.

Being overweight is definitely a cause, the fact that you are only 24 weeks is also a cause, the fact that it's your first baby is also a cause. The further along you go, the more you will feel the baby. But if you still have concerns you should talk to your OB/GYN, because you need to trust your instincts.

Hi

I'm sure things are fine, one thing i do sometimes is go and sit or lay down somewhere and then u will usually feel it move. If you are worried have a chat with the mid-wife. I am sure as the baby grows you'll be wishing it'll stay still for a bit, especially at night when u are trying to sleep!.
good luck with the baby and try not to worry too much.

I don't think being overweight has anything to do with it, I never could tell when my baby was moving and i only gained 20 lbs with mine, drink a coke something with some caffeine in it and see if you can feel anything.

Yes, that could have everything to do with it..

with my first, I was 19, and in the best shape of my life....and i still BARELY felt him move...

you can relay your concerns to your OBGYN, and they will check everything out, but chances are, things are just fine :)
