While there is no conclusive proof that you will harm your baby by using a tanning booth there are several things you should think about first.

*They emit ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which causes skin cancer. Don't believe anyone who tells you that because tanning booths emit only UVA rays they're not hazardous to your health.

*laying in a tanning bed, using a hot tub or sauna can raise your body temp past 102 degrees F. Having an elevated body temp has has been associated with spinal malformations in developing babies.

Its much safer to use a self tanning lotion to get that sun kissed looked :)

NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT! It is quite well known that women are not supposed to take hot baths or sit in hot tubs while they are pregnant because your internal temperature gets too hot, which can harm, or even kill, your baby. So it would stand to reason that a tanning booth would be even more hazardous to the child's health, considering how hot they get. You should probably start consulting with your doctor if you don't know something as basic as that.

And there is a difference between that and laying in the sun - a tanning booth is enclosed and gets extremely hot, and your body temperature goes up quicker. It isn't really good to be sunbathing all that much, either, while pregnant, however it is considerably safer than tanning booths.

I know tanning booths are DEFINITELY not recommended for pregnant women, but I agree with the other posters that said you probably should not tan in the sun either...just too much heat for the baby to deal with.

Remember, there are TONS of great artificial tanners on the market these days that you can try so that you can keep the tan you desire with out endangering your baby. Many tanning salons also do that spray on "mystic tan" so you might check with them and see if that is safe for pregnant women as it would not expose you to any ultraviolet or heat but still let you get the tan you desire.

Congrats on the baby!

Really you shouldn't do either. It is highly recommended that you stay away from tanning beds when you are pregnant. While the ultraviolet rays may not be any more harmful to you, they can be extremely harmful to your unborn baby.

First of all, raising your body temperature above 102 degrees Fahrenheit when pregnant can harm the unborn child. When pregnant, it is also not a good idea to lie on your back for long periods of time as this can decrease blood flow to the heart, which can also affect the baby.

When tanning, splotching on the skin that sometimes occurs while pregnant may worsen.

The bottom line is that you should stay away from tanning beds AND laying out in the sun while pregnant.

You shouldn't do either while pregnant. You shouldn't use tanning booths when you aren't pregnant either. Tanning can lead to skin cancer and now that you have children it is more important to protect your health than to worry about your looks. It's really more important even if you don't have kids, but now there is someone else depending on you. If you feel the need to be tan, you should try a tanning lotion.

You shouldnt be doing anything that will raise your internal temperature. Tanning in beds, and laying in very hot sun will do that.

Esepcially in the first 3 months you're far more likely to end up with a complete loss of the pregnancy, or malformation.

Dont tan while pregnant, theres reasons why they have those plaques in the salon.

Please don't do it. Without being pregnant the tanning booth is bad for your skin. It may look pretty now but skin cancer is never beautiful. Yes you can get skin cancer from tanning outside or in the tanning booth. Don't damage your skin. Besides you never know how a tan is going to come out.

Nope tanning beds are off limits the UV rays are very dangerous to you fetus. The UV rays in a tanning bed are a lot stronger then the normal sun light is.

no tanning booths, you cant be overheated for that long. tanning booths are a lot different then sitting out in the sun for a little while. a lot stronger and gets your internal temp a lot hotter. damaging to that little baby inside of you.

Tanning bed is not good for you in the first place so I dont see how it could be good for you now. And laying out in the sun should be fine just jump in the pool ocasionally to cool off!
