same as now. the military, police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, etc. who lay their lives on the line every day they go to work in order to defend our rights of freedom and liberty along with our lives. remembering that all gave some, and some gave all.

Well it changed many times I guess, but at the moment I mostly remember the Incredible Hulk. I'm not sure why I think that, but its just what came into my mind when I read your question. Actually I'm not really sure what it means to be someones hero anymore.
