Pete Rose was something like Barry Bonds, he just keep getting better in his later years and played until he was 45. It's a tough act to follow.

Jeter would simply need to be even a better hitter over the next 10 or 11 years averaging close to 200 hits a season and not have any significant injuries. Let's just say the odds are not in his favor. Also, to break the Pete Roses all-time hit record will require a player capable and has the desire to break that record to keep them coming back each year in an attempt to break that milestone.

No.

The biggest reason he won't ever be able to break Rose's hit record is because he is a Yankee and will always be a Yankee until he retires. This means that as soon as Jeter can't play as well as the person behind him on the depth chart he won't be playing. The Yankees, as an organization, don't care nearly as much about their players as they do winning a World Series. If you don't believe me go find Bernie Williams and ask him.

He'll put up a lot of hits, he just won't play too much longer than 7 or 8 years, and he's going to need at least 11 seasons to break Rose's record.

No

If he played for another ten years he would need to average about 200 hits per season to get there. In ten years he'll be 43 and won't be getting 200 hits per year.

Plus he's avoided injury pretty much his entire career and that won't last

Also, Jeter is 33, wasn't Pete Rose also 33 when he got 2300? I guess you're going by month.

And Rose reached 2300 in 1 less season than Jeter, which means a lot more than age.

ONly if he changes position. At SS he is going to have too much wear and tear to last long enough. Rose played a long time and moved to 1B for the last 10 years so he could maintain the ability to play every day. He also changed his style the last ten years to a little less of a balls to the wall style, he did not run with as much wreckless abandon...Jeter will have to slow down on that as well.

I can't see Jeter hanging on as a mediocre player into his mid 40s like Pete did, so no.

not a chance. he plays short stop. SHORT STOP. his body is can get very tired very fast and its hard to do anything, let alone hit a baseball at 95 mph. also pete rose played for a LONG time and was never hurt badly.

It is extremely unlikely, but just by the numbers (career to date, age, recent performance track) he has a tiny chance, which is more than can be said about most players.

No chance, He will finish with around 3,500 hits, if everything goes his way and he stays healthy, and he would come up short by more than 700 hits.

If he would like to play as long as Rose. But that's a big "if"
