Okay so I haven't lived in north carolina for 6 months yet so I have to file my divorce with Texas and my question is on August 28th it will be 6 months and i'm going to send the petition for divorce to the court tomorrow but I have to wait 60 days for the finalized divorce. My question is will that matter that once the divorce is finalized I will have been here for over six months or will I be okay cause I already sent the petition?

Nope. It's the date they check it in. So you mail it tomorrow and they check it in next week (lets say Aug 15), then when someone gets around to looking at it (even if thats Aug 29) they will reject it b/c it has not been 6 mo.

You never know. Perhaps they have a pile of paperwork and you could mail it off and it wouldn't get into the system until Aug 28, but since you never know, I would mail it off the day before (Aug 27) just to make sure it goes through.

You must have been here 6 mo to file the petition or it will be rejected.
