For the democrats it's simply a matter of knowing where their bread is buttered.

There maybe other reasons that most politicians, on both sides of the aisle, send their children to private school. I think a lot of it has to do with security. A lot of it has to do with having the financial means to do so. Some of them may be sending their kids to an Alma Mater. In the end, its their choice. What difference does it make? Some of our public schools are wonderful. Some of them are far below standard. It's easy to say they all suck and that politicians prove it by not sending their kids to them, but it really doesn't move us toward any kind of a solution. I tell my children everyday, whether you go to a great school or a substandard school, an education is not something you are given. You have to walk through those doors and take your education. If your teachers aren't doing their jobs, we'll challenge that. But I would never allow them to use some system or some person as an excuse for not learning. My point? When it comes to children, everything starts at home.

Nope, it's not just you. They don't want their own children to get public educations because they realize that it's a failing system that no longer teaches but rather indoctrinates.

If I had children today, they would NOT attend our public school system.

Because the are looking for votes, but their child deserves the best. Which is something they will not get in the public school arena.

In the case of Democrats its because they need the support of the teacher's union, but know the schools suck. Republicans say the schools suck because of the teacher's unions and won't send their kids to public school because of it.
