If you watched the Democratic debate last night moderated by Keith Oberman, did you notice John Edwards poor appearance/ showing? It seems like he needs some real coaching from his handlers - kind of Nixon/Kennedy "visual" TV debate problem....especially the continual eye blinking & he looks very slight in stature compared to the other candidates - If I were coaching him, I'd suggest padded shoulder jackets & lifts in shoes for starters....and he should be "planted" with legs firmly rooted to the floor - not swaying back and forth...it really weakens him....kind of a TV appearance 101 crash course. I am not for or against him...still looking at the field - but I was surprised in this media age to see someone with such a lack of tv appearance savvy.

Re: Answer #2 - Not at all...this is more of just a marketing question. Part of being a political candidate - or in any job interview - is the presentation you make. When so much money is being raised to support a candidate, and in this day and age - when others have failed so famously (people study Nixon's poor performance in his debate w/ Kennedy, ie: heavy beard, etc.) - it just seems that the people handling Edwards have a responsibility to coach him w/ this...he wants to be the representative of the US...he should be able to make a good presentation to the world...kind of basic stuff...not ALL...but never the less, important.

Didn't he look like he had been punched in the nose? Maybe he was sick or something....but his nose was all red and swollen...

I volunteered for his campaign in 2004 and have met him many times and seen him at events speaking many times. I will tell you that since his wife Elizabeth contracted breast cancer and its return, he is looking more tired than he used to. I think all of the travel and concern about his wife is showing.
When he spoke in 2004, he was standing tall, always looked alert and all that. He looks now as if he has lost an additional 20 pounds and he couldn't afford to lose that. He wasn't a very big man in stature before.
So please don't be too harsh on him. He can articulate well and has many great ideas for this country. Even the President of the U.S. gets tired.

So what your saying is that you only care about his appearances as opposed to his substance, that's not what a President should be about. Besides the last thing this country needs is a tort lawyer who made $500 million dollars ripping off insurance companies.
