I have done everything I could to try to get child support from my ex husband, now he is getting a felony. I sent his mom and his best friend a letter with my phone number on it to call me before he ends up getting arrested. Do I just sit and wait to see what happens? He lives in a different state and I know how difficult it is going to be to catch him. He keeps running and I don't know what to do.

One answer says he can't keep running. Unfortunately he can. My friend's dad took off when she was 9 and her sister was 11. He never paid a penny in support. He moved to a different state. He would work for cash, so it couldn't be traced. He even got one employer to agree to pay him through his girlfriend, since she worked there too, so it wouldn't be traced. In the end he owed over $50,000.00 in back support. He was arrested quite a few times and even spent some time in jail. It didn't change his way of living. Some men are truly bastards. You do what you need to do to collect, but if he is determined to run, he will. My friend's dad passed away 2 years ago. She was 30 by then. He never paid a dime and now he never will. I suppose you can look at it as Karma.
The really sad thing is he never got to know how great either of his kids turned out. He missed out on a lot for his warped principles.......
You do what you need to do to support your kids on your own. Forget about him and his woes. It will be hard, but you can do it. then if you do get any money, it will be a bonus, but not required. Go to school. There's a lot of programs out there that will help you get educated, at no cost to you, to help get you a better job.

the state you live in should have a program for these circumstances. The county social services will give you more info but the way it works is if you haven't gotten any $$ from him then they will pay you and go after him themselves. they have more resources to do it and they always catch up with him in the end-in the meantime you will get the money you and your kids deserve without struggling. I know in NJ it is called TANIF and its not welfare its just run by the state.-Good Luck :)

Let him get caught and serve his time in prison. Deadbeat dads or moms for that matter, deserve time. I have brought my ex back to court a few times and he will pay the next week and then nothing again until I take him back.

Go to court or call someone at the court house and tell them what has happened and ask for advice they can help you, just make the call.

Let the courts do it. If they are going to charge him, let him sit in jail for a minute and see how he likes that. Otherwise, just make your own way as a single mom. Be a strong woman.

He can't keep running, seriously how long is he going to keep running for. He needs to "man up" and take responsibility for his actions and be a better example for your child. Your child deserves it !!!

there's nothing you can do.

leave his family alone, they don't have anything to do with his child support -- it's not their responsiblity.

and he's going to have to pay the piper because he hasn't paid his support... i'm sure the law will catch up with him eventually.
