Apparently there'll be a statement from Portugese police later clearing the parents of any suspicion involving Maddy's disappearance. What do you think?

Toietmoi: No link - searched for one when I heard the headline before the news started but there was none - not even on the ITV website. It was the lead story on the ITN Lunchtime news.

dave s: A helluva lot to think about Dave - which was why I asked this question. With all that's been happening in the past couple of days, why the sudden move to clear them?
James M: Don't you DARE accuse me of that type of thing, you effing moron. What I'm interested in is justice for Madeleine as are loads of others on this site. And, come to think about it - my question was about the parents being cleared - so YOU must have been following the previous stories or you wouldn't have a clue what I was on about Who needs the shrink, numpty heid? AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE QUESTIONS, DON'T ANSWER THEM !!!

The trouble is that the police in Portugal should have sealed off the apartment after the abduction and/or murder and spent weeks searching for forensic evidence. The person responsible would have left some clues even if it was a relative or friend of the little girl! The Portuguese police don't have to deal with too many of these cases and are not as efficient as our own police, but now that our own police are involved we should see some advances soon, as our boys take over the case.
I did not here anything on the news on the BBC about the Portuguese police clearing anybody of the disappearance of the unfortunate child. The only one who seems to be in the clear is Robert Murat, who seems to have been used as a scapegoat.
Statistically it is very probable in cases like this that the child is abducted/murdered by someone that is already known to them, a relative, family friend, parents work colleague etc.
Someone maybe withholding information to save the hassle of a friend being questioned not realising that they could be the perpetrator.
The McCann's are guilty in the least of child neglect and wilful abandonment, hopefully the CPS will deal with them on their return, if they are not guilty of more!

How did they work that out. Did they Portuguese Police personally analyse the blood themselves in a self-made lab in the back of their police van?
Did the sniffer dog all of a sudden have a nervous breakdown and then the police realised it was crap at its job after all.
Ok now I've got it. The dog smelled a dead body.. but that dead body is not Madeleine's it's some other person who has coincidentally died in the same room.
Or a sex offender went into the room, saw three children, and, given that the McCanns said they were checking every 30 minutes, had time to sexually assault one of the children [which is what all paedos do], kill her, wipe away the blood, then pick her up and dump her in the sea [hence the oceanographers conducting surverys etc]...
Hmmm. don't think so some how....
I wonder how much the Portuguese police are being paid to issue that statement..

It's all very well for people to accuse the anti McCanns of wanting a result which implicates the McCanns or of being generall nuts, but all most of us are doing is commenting and speculating on what we have heard about in the Press. There's usually a nugget of truth in the Press even if most of it is embroidered.
The case of the sniffer dog has obviously caused speculation. That was a shocking snippet of news and of course people are going to comment on something like that.
Personally, I think poor Madeleine will never get justice and will join the ranks of such cases as the Lindberg baby, Lord Lucan and Shergar. Awful.

I never heard that, I thought they had sent the blood samples to UK for testing, and were waiting for the results. I have had Sky News on most of the day, and did see that the DNA tests on the bottle in the Belgium cafe didn't belong to Madeleine.

I feel your sources are wrong.
The only news i have heard on Maddie today - and its on ITNs website as well is that a straw from a restaurant where someone reported seeing Maddie, the DNA from the little girls straw at the restaurant did not mach her. Thus it cleared any lead with that and the girl couldnt have been her. This straw had nothing to do with the parents, whom i feel are guilty by the way.

Im interested in finding out the results of the DNA tests of blood found in the hotel room myself.

Well, if that is so, good and well. I would hate to think that the parents did it.
Now we must wait and see whose blood it was on the wall, and hopefully, the police will now concentrate on getting the real perpetrator.
I have to ask - how on earth could a couple suspected of murder put pressure on the police to clear them? (re someone above me.)

I don't think should be cleared of any involvement. After all they are involved, they left little Madeleine on her own for a start.

They seem to be enjoying the life style over there, I wonder if they will sell up their home here in Britian and move over there more permanant like. I suppose the warmer climate is a big draw; what do you guys think?

Will the Portugese be spelling out the reasons for why the McCanns are in the clear?
And which police force comes out to say who is NOT a suspect? Obviously the McCanns have been putting pressure on them.
And if they are in the clear, where is the evidence of an 'abductor', to date we have had none.
And will someone in the police force explain what they found with the cadaver dog???
Apart from the fact they are clearly guilty of child neglect, I cant see how the police can definitively rule out the parents as having been more involved in their daughters disappearance.
