He may be "no Hank Aaron" just like Hank Aaron was "no Babe Ruth" and Babe Ruth was not as good to the people of the time as somebody from 40 years before him. In the end, thirty years from now people will get the same revisionists history about Barry that they got from Aaron and put him on a pedestal that he did not belong on. As far as Barry questions, you will still see them because people are so divided on the issue of Barry...some believe in the Constitution and some believe in "if it looks like a duck".

You know what, it's about time that I rant on this. Whether you like him as a person or not, whether you believe he used steroids or not, BARRY BONDS IS THE ALL TIME MLB LEADER IN HOME RUNS. All this crap about "Babe Ruth is the real king" let it go! All this crap about Bonds is not the "real record holder" get a life. All this crap about putting an * by his record - find a quarter and buy a clue! If you say he did steroids, where the hell is your proof? I know I've heard all the stuff about his head size increased, he gained weight, etc. But I'll give you an example from my favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. Have any of you heard of ANDRUW JONES? He first broke on the scene as a skinny slick fielding center fielder who was the youngest MLB player to hit a home run in the World Series. Look at him now. Andruw is pushing 250 nowadays and he has had spikes in his home run numbers the last few years. But no one has said he's on steroids. Since the root of this is racial, I'll give you a better example. This example is of a skinny first baseman who had slightly above average power who transformed himself into one half of the "Bash Brothers". He hit 70 home runs in 1998 while he was pumped up on andro. His name - Mark McGwire. Andro was found in his possession, yet he's embraced like a hero. He was "Paul Bunyan" while Barry Bonds is treated like Lex Luthor. But lets say Barry Bonds did knowingly do steroids. Was he the only one who did it? Do you think that any of the 446 pitchers that gave up home runs to Bonds were on steroids? I'm sure they were. But some kind of way he's been turned into the scapegoat for the "steroid era". Bud Selig is the one who turned his head when McGwire was launching homers over the fence. But chicks dig the longball. Barry said it best. The record is not tainted. At all. Period. Steroids may make you stronger and may make you hit the ball a little further than the next man, but hitting a baseball that is coming at you from anywhere between 75-100 MPH at different angles is an issue of HAND EYE COORDINATION and WRIST SPEED. You can be the Incredible Hulk, but if you can't hit, you won't hit home runs. Whether you like it or not, Bonds is the best hitter ever. And there are tons of people who think he doesn't have class, well he could have really used last night as a "Get Bent America" moment and put everyone in their place, but he made light of the fact that people hate him for ALLEGEDLY doing the same thing that his Caucasian contemporary did. Show me some proof and maybe I'll change my mind. But until then, I'll say it for Barry. If you don't like it Get Bent

he will always have that controversy surrounding him about steroid use, but all you have to do is see some pics of him in the past, and now to see for yourself. but fans always turn a blind eye, as far as Babe Ruth goes, since when was being a drunk something out of the ordinary in the sports world? We've seen plenty, including john Riggins, who even smoked ciggs on the sideline. At least those are legal,AND WEREN'T PERFORMANCE ENHANCING AT ALL. So there will be those for and against, but in reality it dosn't change our lives a bit.

You might as well get used to it because it will never go away until A-Rod, or someone else, comes along and breaks the record. That could be a minimum of 7 years or none of us may see it in our lifetime. This will be the era of the Bonds haters and they will be coming out of the woodwork's.

Like it or not, he IS the home run king.
He's no Hank Aaron but he has broken the HR record.
Setting a new record in any major league sport is news in itself and will be talked about.
If you don't want to listen/see it, remove yourself from places you'll be exposed to it.
Plus, Babe Ruth was no saint either. But people seem to give him a free pass.

More questions will come up now that he has broken the record. How many more will he hit, will he admit to steroids after he retires, how much bigger can his head grow, etc.

Personally, I don't care. I ignore it. It can be irritating though. He is a cheater, there needs to be a special goal for cheaters. He doesn't matter, so drop it already.
