Their history doesn't speak well. Granted, it's a new era in Boston these days, but their history of choking and collapsing looms over them like a huge, dark cloud.

Since the All-Star break the Sox have gone 15-11; since then the Yankees have been on fire with a record of 21-7. Though 15-11 is a respectable record, the Yankees have been almost perfect and haven given themselves a new life in the AL East. I still don't see them winning the division, but it has brought some worries to a lot of fans here in Boston. Not me personally, but a lot of callers on WEEI have been hitting the panic button and doubting the team with the best record in baseball. The Yankees went through their tough times at the beginning of the season, and this is not what the Sox are going through. The Yankees started off the season, going 9-14 in the month of April. The Sox on the other hand, had a 16-8 record in April. The Sox have played above .500 baseball since the break (.577), but the NYY have been better (.750) since the mid-summer classic. I cannot see how you can call it a choke when Boston is still playing above .500 ball; it's more a fact that New York is playing exceptional baseball. That all from a baseball analysis, not a Red Sox fan perpective; so don't think I'm just saying this because I'm from Boston, this is legit stuff.

Boston has a habit of choking when it comes down to the point. They weree only lucky in 2004. You had to have known that the Yankees wer not going to play bad forever. They have too much talent on that team. They show great teamwork. Did you see last night's game. A-Rod got hit by a pitch. The whole team rushed to help him after the Blue Jays bench rushed after him. Then Clemens and Torre were thrown out of the game because Clemens hit a Blue Jays player. So much drama, but the Yankees players will back a teammate whether the actions were right or wrong. The yankees also need this. It has been a while since their last championship. It would be wrong if thy did not get it. They worked so hard to get over .500 and win their spot back into the race. The pitching at first was no that great, but they have rvamped the look of the bullpen which should do the trick. When you have players like Jeter, A-Rod, Abreu, etc., you know you have a good team. Rivera almost always come through when the Yankees need him. He had a slow start, but he does better when it gets closer to the post season. Even the yankees bottom players have been hitting. Everything is falling into place now. Hopefully A-Rod will continue his run because last night he did not have that good of a game. He was very upset about the incident and I think he was trying too hard to make something happen that may have not been there. It was also said that his leg was acting up, but he should be okay. His team backed him up and created the offense that was needed to win the game. The Yankees also have a new pitcher, Joba Chamberlain that looks to have promise.
GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not worried, because I know the standings can change in a second and I also know another important thing, the schedules for both teams during the next few weeks. Sox have Tampa twice, Baltimore, Angels, and White Sox. Yanks have Cleveland, Tigers twice, Baltimore, Angels, and tonight they actually go against a real pitcher. Let's see how they do against higher quality teams. If they do well then, I will be impressed. Red Sox fans will not panic, because we have one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball. So bring it on.

They have been known to choke in the past. You never know. I am a yankee fan, and I just want to see the Bronx bombers flat out win it. Not "back in", because the Sox hit a slump. Two great teams....hopefully the yankees get it and we will have a memorable playoff. Good luck to the Sox, better luck to the yankees...

They wont choke, the baseball season is like a roller coaster every team has it's high point and low points of the season, Red Sox just aren't playing good baseball right now, things will start clicking eventually, let it also be noted, Red Sox traditionally don't do all that well on their west coast trips.

It's after the All Star break. Being the Red Sox fan I am - I am preparing for the choke, but hoping they don't.

As a Yankee Fan I would hope so. The Yanks are on fire but against the lesser teams. We'll see this weekend against the Indians how we fare.

I believe that the Yankees will make it close, but with their bullpen and a great offense, I think that the Sox will hold on and win the East.
