Everyone is different..it depends on how dedicated and serious you are about quitting. Some decide to go cold turkey and quit all together with success. Other try cutting back gradually. There are patches and help books.

It just all depends on you and what your willing to go through to quit. I say go for it...health wise if your healthy replace your cravings with exercise instead of cigarettes. I believe you are strong enough to do it and stick with it.

1) Decide to absolutely quit. Be resolved in this endeavor. Your decision to do it should always be for yourself and not for other people. People come and go out of your life but you will always be a part of it, so if your resolve is to do it for yourself then there is little chance it will waver.

2) Quit cold turkey. Cutting back on your smoking or using nicotine patches and/or gum still puts nicotine into your system,. So you still haven't actually quit if you cut back or use those things, and then you are just dragging out the process. Nicotine takes about 10 - 14 days to leave your system, so after that period of time the rest is just a mental struggle.

3) Don't hang around people when they are smoking. Inhaling their smoke puts nicotine back into your system and then you haven't actually quit, you're just smoking through them.

I did it cold turkey. It sucked, but all you really need is a strong motive. This may sound stupid, but on the last day I could smoke, I tried to go out with a bang. I smoked tons of cigarettes. All the other times I quit I had regretted not enjoying my cigarettes while I still could. That may not be the best thing for you health wise, though. My best advice to you is to find a strong motivation. You'll only succeed if you really want to.

Slowly work your way down. Find something else to take the place of it. Maybe like chewing gum. Or sunflower seeds. And try not to think about smoking. Its a terrible habit and your lungs are saying ' Quit smoking, your killing me!' lol If you quit your lungs and your body will appreciate it. Good luck. Hope you find something that works ! :)

Well, I would personally recommend to not buy the cigarettes in the first place, that way even if you are tempted, there's nothing you can do about it.

But an easier way for you to do it, is to maybe smoke 2 less cigarettes each day until you are down to zero. Chew gum to satisfy your oral fixation.

There is no easy way, although nicotine patches or similar things might help. The most important thing is to decide to do it, recognize that it won't be easy, and be able to tell your body to shut the f--- up when it demands a cigarette. My father had been a smoker for years. One day, my mother noticed that she had not seen him smoking recently, and inquired. "I've quit." said he, and that was that.

Talk to your doctor about Chantix (I think that's how you spell it.) My aunt is a "true smoker" and she has not smoked in over 9 months. Chantix is supposed to be guaranteed to make you quit and not start again. So far my aunts doing it. just talk to your doctor.
Good luck!
