When your DSL was installed, you should have been given special filters which have to installed between the wall jack and the phone line of every telephone. If one of those is missing or improperly installed, it will cause your Internet to disconnect whenever the phone is used.

That's a statement rather than a question ... even though you've attached a question mark to the end of it. Anyway, the reason your broadband connection is because you need ADSL filters attached to your line. These should have been supplied when you received your modem/router. (It may be that you need filters attached to every socket within your home.)

You must be having dialup connection. Normally there is a setting in your phone which will enable/disable call waiting. You need to have call waiting turned off. This way a person trying to call you will get an engaged tone instead of the ring tone. This will stop the connection being broken.

Ensure you have ADSL filters in all phone lines even though broadband is not connected through them all.
Your service provider should be able to provide you with any extras, alternatively you can get them from any decent computer store.
