I love them, from the original band to their later incarnations. I'm the only guy that I know of that is lucky to have even heard of them, let alone have all their albums.

Terrific music, fantastic vocal harmonies, great keyboards and lead guitar work. I personally think much underrated. I mean, they were good enough for Ozzy Osbourne's rhythm section (bass/drums) at the outset of his solo career, (although now for some sort of legal/royalty dispute, Ozzy has overdubbed the rhythm section on those original albums with other musos).

What do others think of this band?

Uriah Heep were often tagged as being a poor mans' Deep Purple, and somewhat of a Purple rip off. Total rubbish I think. Early Uriah Heep was very hippy trippy mytical with their music, as opposed to the straight out hard rocking Purple. Just check out "Magicians' Birthday". Even though a hard rocking song in parts with a very long hard rock guitar solo, the entire theme was classic hippy 60's tripping, nothing like Purple.

P.S. Why waste time and keystrokes answering a question if you don't like rock at all? I hate rap, hip hop, urban. I couldn't be bothered answering in response to a question on that.

The GREAT <>, the band has sold millions of records and have charted five albums in the U.S. Top 40. A technically brilliant heavy rock band they may be most noted for staying in existence, despite over 40 personnel changes and two deaths along the way. but they still Rocks for ex Demos & Wizards is a Gggggreat album

The roots of Uriah Heep Still in the metal bands from the late of 60's until now . ( Rainbow for example is influenced by Uriah Heep , Dio , and lots of ( N.W.O.B.H.M ) . Uriah Heep DID A BIG THING in the history of Heavy Metal and Rock Music .. a brilliant band .

Uriah Heep was great. I wouldn't consider them a poor man's Deep Purple at all. I always thought the Heep was more progressive then DP. Not only did Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake go onto play in Ozzy's original solo band but John Wetton was later member of Heep and went onto become Bassist/vocalist for Asia. Fav albums Demons & Wizards, The Magicians Birthday. I know of one person who has actually heard of them and listen to them.

Always liked them! As a bass player myself, I think the late Gary Thain is right up there with the best!
I saw them live in 1972, what a fantastic concert. I saw them again in the mid 80's, and they were OK I suppose.
Trevor Boulder is a good bass player, but he's no Gary Thain!
The vocalist in the 80's and now is Canadian singer, Bernie Shaw. I never cared much for his vocal ability (or lack of). I'm more of a classic era Heep fan; Byron, Kerslake, Thain, Hensley, Box; Demons and Wizards / Magicians Birthday / Wonderworld' etc. They released one album during their 'classic' phase called 'Sweet Freedom'. It had a couple great songs, but sadly I felt the rest of that LP was filler.
I also enjoyed 'Return to Fantasy', and 'High and Mighty' (with John Wetton on bass), and 'Innocent Victim', Trevor's 2nd with the band, along with ex 'Asterix' and 'Lucifers Friend' vocalist 'John Lawton'. He first appeared on 'Firefly' which I never cared much for.
Their earlier albums released before Thain and Kerslake joined were excellent too! 'Salisbury' is brilliant!

first of all enable Me say I somewhat adore the two bands. alien craft is in My all time suitable 10 and Uriah Heep is in my suitable 20. So I desire alien craft purely a smidge because of the fact specifically of the incomparable Michael Schenker's guitar artwork. yet although alien craft does not have any ordinary entire albums as magnificent as Demons & Wizards that's a entire 10 on the WOW scale. BA: i like alien craft's version a hair greater advantageous.

I like em & heard of em. (or course!) :)

They're one of those "forgotten" 70s bands. I've been putting off getting "Demons & Wizards", but I will asap. I did buy a hits album many years ago & would love to get it back.

The only later song of theirs I know is "Other Side of Midnight". Great, catchy rocker.

Like Deep Purple, they seem to be a band that bridges hard rock & prog.

"Easy Livin'" is a really great rocker by those guys...W.A.S.P. also covered that song in the 80's...I wish I knew more about that band, or even heard some of their more obscure stuff...
cool band!
