I am not germaphobe but you do have to wonder where that hand was last. I am more of a knuckle greeter.

Not even knuckles, people get the nod and "hello, how are you" type of thing from me. I'm not touching anyone.

I think you answered your own question. The hands are very bad carriers for germs and if he is ocd that would account for not shaking hands. I wash my hands all the time especially after a visit to the bathroom.

If I know them then its a hug and a kiss on the cheek, or both cheeks if its an Italian, Greek or other continental friend. If I don't know them a handshake, firmish but not a crusher!
