It is said that depending on how one interprets the many quatrains that Nostradamus wrote, different "prophecies"can be extracted from them.I was wondering if anyone can work the tragic sinking of the Titanic into one of them?

Of course.

There are many who will tell you that Nostradamus predicted 9/11, Kennedy's assassination, Pearl Harbor, the American Revolution, and the invention of the paper clip.

Face it, the man was a fraud.

No, but a man named Morgan Robertson wrote a book called "Futility" about a ship called the Titan, that sank in the ocean after hitting an ice berg. The similarities are quite scary between the Titanic and the made up ship the Titan. This is an excerpt from a web site concerning the book:

Robertson's novel features a ship, the Titan, '..which was the largest craft afloat and the greatest of the works of men'. No expense was spared on making the ship luxurious and the steward's cabin is described as being 'equal to that of a first class hotel.'

The latest technology was used in the building of the Titan including the addition of '..nineteen water-tight compartments.. With nine compartments flooded the ship would still float, and as no known incident of the sea could possibly fill this many, the steamship Titan was considered practically unsinkable.'

Because Titan was considered unsinkable she only carried the minimum number of lifeboats required by law - 24 - able to carry 500 people. This was not enough for the 2000 passengers on board.

Morgan Robertson's Titan hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank. 2987 people died in the disaster.

Morgan Robertson republished Futility after the sinking of the Titanic with some notable changes suggesting that he was trying to cash in on the Titanic disaster.

Nevertheless, the similarities between The Titan and Titanic are striking. They were even identical that they hit the iceberg at almost exactly the same time, and hit it on the starboard side around midnight.

No many of Nostradamus scholars have already tried to do that without any success.... But there was a book written about the the sinking of a factious ship Called the Titan I believe that did match the Titanic exactly in every way including the number of dead and survivors.. And when I say it matched the Titanic I mean every known facts was the same... And this book came out for public consummation years before the Titanic was built.. Now many scholars consider that book to be a Psychic marvel........

You could probably predict next years exam papers from Nostradamus. Seriously, once you have cracked his highly confusing code anything can be extracted from his prophecies.
His code involves translating his text into modern french from old french, then something seriously complicated using numbers into english.
Have fun. xxx

Thing is, Nosradamus' predictions were so vague you could interepret just about anything.

He wasn't that much of a prophet, so far he's been very wrong on the date of the end of the world. According to him, it should have ended years ago.

Nostradamus is very popular in the western culture, but in essence, it's rubbish.
