I think it is because they see people like Hillary and Obama and compared to these clowns Bush isn't nearly as bad as they once thought.

I think the recent increase in Pres. G. Dub's approval ratings are due, in part, to the troop surge success. I also believe that the increase can be attributed to the temporary waning of controversial immigration issues. President Bush is for amnesty, the majority of Americans (Dems, Repubs, and Independents alike) are not. Since Congress has put the issue on the back burner for now, the media attention of the subject has subsided, and we're no longer bombarded with it every time we turn on the TV or open a newspaper. The same thing is happening with Senator McCain. His GOP presidential nominee campaign almost completely fell apart due to his immigration stance (same as President Bush's). He's since realized and flip-flopped his amnesty stance last week by introducing border security legislation that does NOT include amnesty for the 20 million who are already here. He's picked up a bit in the polls since, but it may be too late for him.
Despite the troop surge success, if the amnesty bill were still on the table, I don't think we'd be seeing quite the increase (we'd still see an increase, it'd just be less of one) in Pres. G. Dub's approval ratings that we are.
Way to go troops! God bless!

Bush approval rating is not that high and America is tired of the same message coming from Bush every time he speaks. We are fighting a war that can not be won and i say that because what are we fighting for and don't say terrorism.
Bush's administration is starting to go against him with the war. If you start looking closer to what he is doing you will notice he does not care about the well being of this country

The polls are not an accurate measure of what Americans think about Bush. Since most respondants to polls are liberals eager to drive his "approval rating" down in the eyes of the media, they don't reflect what the majority of Americans think. The majority of Americans agree that the President is doing exactly what is required in the war on terrorists.

Had to laugh at the recent poll after talking with my nephew who returned recently from his 2nd tour in Baghdad. After 5 years of our occupation most of Baghdad is still without sewer or water, electricity is available only about 1 hour per day throughout the city, his experience there is that Baghdad is lawless. After the fourth 'surge' violence is down slightly but not much. The recent gallup poll to me is merely Repub media manipulation and the American people being to dumb to understand this.

You think 39% means America thinks he is doing a good job?
That means 61% don't!
But most polls show him nowhere near 39% anyway (care to provide a source).
The last 4 I have seen show him between 29% and 31%.

Even if he had a 80% increase in his ratings he would simply be at 10% because he is the first to have negative numbers for a rating!

Polls are untrustworthy to say the least. They are to easily altered. I would beware of trusting any of them.
