If the spouse is successful in dominating over his partner in the initial days can he continue to dominate through out his married life? If the wife is stupid then I feel that the husband must have the upper hand in the marriage rather than allow his wife to dominate over him.

In India even if you as a husband have an upper hand from day one it hardly matters. The day you start troubling your wife or she feels like doing so, then only she'll be having the upper hand & your position will be that of a lost & injured warrior waiting for relief to arrive for your help. Don't believe me try out & face the consequences. Sections 498A of the Indian Penal Code, Dowry prohibition Act, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act etc are few of the severe Nuclear Bombs specially manufactured for Indian wives.

Not really. For that thing to happen one should marry an illiterate simple village girl from a very backward place where such presumptions exist. Wife dominates when the husband lives in wife's house or she belongs to a much richer & forward family. Mostly wives themselves keep at least 1% lower than husbands so that all outside heavy & major responsibilities requiring subtle plannings & decisions automatically come in share of husbands. It is tact & intelligence & not being dominated. Nobody is taker of your idea now-a-days in educated class.
Try one thing. Marry a girl of your choice & make an understanding with her on the fist day that for one month your orders will be follwed by her in all domestic matters & the next month her orders will be followed by you. Practice this for first six months. Period may be 15 days too if both agree. The orders will not be of heavy burdens or very - very difficult works. You will realise that your question is redundent, according to me. This not new idea will make both understand each other's responsibilities & rigour involved in married life requiring great responsibilities for both husband & wife & will clear all misunderstandings & apprehensions about married life forever & the couple will pass good loving life. Married life is neither a fun nor a battle or war too.

If the wife is stupid, then the husband is stupid for marrying her - the upper hand should go to the dog, as neither DESERVES to be a leader.
Marriages that WORK are not relationships where one dominates the other!!! Marriages are PARTNERSHIPS!!

All these people, who think they are better and so much more intelligent than others are stupid persons themselves.
So you will marry to somebody stupid and you want to dominate her? Go and buy a dog and do the poor girl a big favour: Cancel the wedding.
She will find somebody much better than you (which won´t be a difficult issue), who will respect her, trust her and make her feel like a partner - and not like a bloody dog who is supposed to be kicked around.

In a marriage your spouse should be your best friend.
There's no upper and lower hand. As a couple your a team.
And a spouse should never relate to their spouse as stupid.
Of coarse you will have disagreements with your spouse but that just leads to a great make-up. Treat your spouse with respect and they will respect you if not get out....

Ideally it should be an equal partnership.
Each must complement the others.
But we live in a world that is far from ideal, so as a rule you do have a lop sided relationship but in most cases it is bearable because it changes from time to time or it depends on Individual "circumstances".

Sounds like you want a slave, not a wife. Perhaps you should be less concerned about dominating and more concerned with communicating and compromising with your wife.
Though i will admit that my wife is my slave, whips, chains, gags, blindfolds... Just too much fun.

it depends there are times when wife can have inferiority complex issues, it also depends on how she was brought up. but the ans. to your question YES SHE CAN HAVE UPPER HAND AND CAN BE DOMINATING FOR WHOLE LIFE
