Because there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that supports its existence, including people with visible marks, massive numbers of photographs, G.I recounts, and seized Nazi files, that to question its existence is simply a refusal to acknowledge the facts due to a political agenda.
There is no possible, practical way to fabricate that much evidence. It would be on an impossible scale, unprecedented in human history.
As far as ostracizing skeptics go, you are right, they have the freedom to be skeptical. But in the same manner, the rest of us have the freedom to ostracize the skeptics.

The holocaust did really occur. There is enough proof for it, still people can testify what happened, writting exist (from investigators and ss-murderers), buildings and mass graves are known and you ask if it really occured, come on.
Not only jews died but also people of Jehova, gipsies, homos, resistants, ...
About the freedom of speech. In general, a law limit the freedom of people when this use of freedom hurts or harms others. In Europe there are laws against the negation of the holocaust because the people that question the holocaust are hurting the feelings of the victims (not only the jews), their families that lost people. Especially in Europe it hurts because of the many people that still know how the nazi occupation was, the memorials and buildings, the graves.
AND YOU ASKS about freedom of thinking about this matter ? You should know that those that you dought to have killed so many people, did not consider one moment about your freedom of thinking. With the nazi you had to think has they wanted ... or see with your own eyes the holocaust you say that didn't exist.

People have free speech, but it has definite limits. You cannot libel someone, you cannot shout fire (when there is not one) in a crowded theater, and you cannot state wrong information in a business transaction.
The Holocaust is a fact demonstrated by speeches Hitler made on film and radio saying he was going to destroy the subhuman Jews (his words). Their is footage of the Jews going by rail to the many camps, where they were shot, gassed, or exterminated by other methods. It is a fact millliions of bodies were found and documents that had procedures written and devised to kill as many Jews as efficiently as possible. It was called "The Final Solution." There were many camps, Auschwitz was the most famous, infamous.
You can see footage of the thousands and thousands of dead Jews (the Nazis had not yet buried them) being bulldozed into huge mass graves. Some starving skeletons were found who somehow suvived. Hitler stated in "My Struggle" he would do this if he came to power, and in this rare instance was true to this word.
It is not political correctness, but denying the Holocaust would be stating the South won the American Civil War, Chinese toys companies have not made products with excessive lead. The Holocaust can be seen in news reels, when the camps were liberated, and are documented.
Palestinians certainly have the right to state legitmate grievances. But this does not include disputing irrefutable facts.

The Holocaust really occurred. There is far too much documentary and anecdotal evidence for there to be any doubt, particularly because many of the SS members involved kept detailed records of their actions. The Jews involvement was as the largest single group singled out for extermination in the concentration camps. Holocaust denial is not illegal in the United States, but in those nations in which it is, the reasoning is that holocaust denial is connected most strongly to two movements - the resurgence of Naziism and the coverup and perjury involving war crimes.

This is a ZOG thing right?
Hmmm. Evidence. How about all of those mass graves? Lots of paperwork detailing executions related to the special commandoes. Lots of photographs and witness testimonies. How about those pesky buildings in Poland? You know, the ones with the gas chambers. How about the photographs and films from the US troops?
Look, you might not like the Jews, but the final solution happened. Not just to them, but Gypsies, Russian troops, spies and resistance fighters and plenty of Catholic Priests.
I know that something a terrible as this is hard to immagine, but it happened. Understand this and you will know a great deal about what man will quite happily do to his brother for an ideology.
Luck

Well, the mass rewriting of history was ALSO led by Hitler, so it gets a massive bad reaction from most of the world. A REAL LOT of us, French, English. Russian, and United States military personnel, as we moved into Nazi-held location in central Europe, SAW the concentration camps, saw the mass graves, saw the piles of teeth several feet high, saw the evidence of the accumulated millions of deaths, as well as seeing the badly abused survivors in many of the camps, from Auschwitz in Poland to Dachau in Germany. So there is a huge number of us, though getting smaller every year, who KNOW this happened, and we don't appreciate anyone telling us that it didn't, because we were there, and saw it. BTW, it wasn't only Jews, it was also Gypsies and any other subset of people that Hitler decided he didn't like.

People don't want to be reminded of a fact that a single person influenced so many into doing something so hideous. Remember Hitler didn't want to just eliminate the Jews, if you were anything but blond hair, blue eyed you were not part of his 'master' plan. Jews and Gypsies were just the beginning of his plan. Religious would have been persecuted, that means Catholics, Islams, Buddhists all would have been eliminated as well.
Ask yourself this question, if Hitler had gone after the Islamic/Catholic/etc people and killed six million would people be asking this question?

The Jews did not suffer in Germany because there was no Holocaust. Actually it was the Jews that was torturing the poor blond haired deprived Germans. Those tattoos on the Jews arms and hands that are still alive today (by the grace of God) are really there because they want to be hip.
OTHER CONSPIRACIES TO THINK ABOUT:
1. We knew the Japanese were going to bomb Pearl Harbor before they did. I mean come-on President Roosevelt liked the thought of our boys baking inside the Battle Ship Arizona before they died. The President was looking for a better way to get a good nights sleep.
2. America did not land on the Moon. We payed billions of dollars for the 360 foot Saturn 5 rocket so we could look at it and say wow that is a big rocket. We kept approx. 400,000 technicians, scientists and construction contractors quiet, with zero leaks to the public. The rocks that we thought that came from moon and have proved to be from the moon are really from the Pacific Ocean.
3. The Mafia whacked JFK, via the Russian connection, via the Cuban connection.... The man on the grassy knoll was a CIA agent acting on orders from Giancana from Chicago and Marcello from New Orleans, with duplicity from Castro and Kruschev....true story.
4. Aliens landed in Roswell and we transported them to Area 51 to back engineer their technology, where do you think the stealth air craft came from? Again, we kept it secret by brain washing the thousands of workers who were in on the scam.
5. The Moon we see every night is really not there along with the planets, stars as well as the Planet Killing Asteroids. Those were put there by the evil United States to toy with our minds.
6. The fossils of homo eructus, neandertals and 15 other hominids that are extinct were put there by paleotologists, archeologists, and assorted rock hounds to enhance their careers. Creationism is the only reality.
7. America is a conspiracy and is a fake country and none of us Americans really live here.
8. I was never born so this response to your question is a fake.

Yes it did occur! it is because of people like you that our mistakes from the past seem to happen over and over again. Do some research and maybe you will see why European countries make it a law to question whether it happened!

yes it did happen, my friends grandmother was in a concentration camp when she was a child and watched the Nazis kill her sisters and mother, and after many many years she said she still smelled the ovens cooking people, this and the hunting memories of the horrific things that were done to her as a child and what she saw and endured were very real even on her death bed she spoke of the terror, sorry but no fiction about the holocaust
