Traditions are a very important thing. I think one of the big problems is the new generations. They are completely different from the older generations as far as how they are motivated and what gets them going. Of course we still have the same rebelliousness that the older generations had but its a little different now. The new generations seem more self absorbed. They dont seem to have too much of a care for the past or traditions. if its not what they want to do then they are not going to do it. And as this may seem like the right way to be there are certain things that even though we dont want to we should do. Upholding Traditions is one of them. Sure it might not be the funnest but its your heritage, your culture. We will not succeed in the future unless we learn from the mistakes of our past in order to not repeat those mistakes. Traditions also aid in this. In that if you have a better understanding of your traditions you have a better understanding of the past. And im not saying its just my generations or even the next one that is starting out. I feel it came even from my parents generation. Maybe we can break the chain of apathy before the next generation gets hit too hard with it? we will see

It is very important for every nation. A tradition is a belief or behavior passed down within a group or society with symbolic meaning or special significance with origins in the past. The customs, culture and traditions of the people of a country are representative of the history, faith, language and environment of that country.

Traditions are often an integral matter - - - for many people why bother, if it is a choice between a football game and swilling beer in a sports stadium or dressing in a funny white skirt at the Greek Festival while slamming back shots of Ouzo that you know will leave one wrecked for weeks, most will opt for warm beer and the roar of the crowd.
In other words - - - why bother. Yesterday was Yesterday.

Boredom, lack of interest, and what truly kills culture & tradition OR can save it invest it with promise of a future is Someone to Share it With. It truly helps to have like minded friends or best a mate. I've known many a person who lost touch with their culture by delving into the culture of their mate. Such is fate.
