How to find out someone's b'day?

Question

Does anybody have ideas on finding out birthday of our colleagues in office?
Without asking directly to the person because I'm planning to congratulate them on their bday surprisingly.

How about sending out a Birthday list in the Office.
Have everyone write down their Birthday.
Or Ask the Boss. Generally they are not allowed to give out that information. But it is worth a shot. If you know the person pretty well, ask one of their relatives.
