The US were never welcomed with open arms. The biggest fake of all was the pulling down of the statue of Saddam. The US and British press filmed it from such an angle that the public were fooled into thinking there were thousands of cheering Iraqis there welcoming it. The actual numbers and truth of this moment can be seen on the followin link

Yeah, the US certainly did a lot of "good" in Iraq. Everything worked before the invasion. - now... well...

I worked for a short while in Saddam's Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war - it was scary and there were secret police, mass arrests and hidden mikes all over the place. What was lovely were the Iraqi people who were unfailingly friendly and strongly supportive of the UK whom they saw then as an ally against the tyrant's worst excesses and against Iran. Also there was every kind of Islamic, Jewish, Christian and other religious practice flourishing with no trouble at all.

i suspect a lot of this trouble comes from Iranian supported troublemakers - they want to be asked to take over the country when the US and UK leave.

It is a very sad day when you have to say the lives of the people in Iraq was better under Saddam Hussein. Upwards of 500,000-750,000 dead, 2 million internally displaced and over 2 million have had to totally leave the country. Cancer and other serious disease rates have skyrocketed.
The idea that all of this is worth it to be free might have point if it was true, but it is very clear that there is no freedoms in Iraq other than to be able to kill each other.

Iraq is subject to change but the changes need to be economical changes for the people of Iraq. To work and support themselves would be a positive change to progress in the building of an intrastructure to assist them would be an idea. Factories that could produce products that could assist Iraqis and produce a paycheck would be a positive change. Persons are confused, angry, and struggling to survive as America keeps bombing. So what should be done?

Yep they welcomed the invaders with open arms, mission accomplished. If Saddam was a monster, not sure what that makes the occupiers now.

Good to see governments want everyone to give up their own freedoms to fight for freedom too, guess they never learnt what the word IRONY means.

I am sure it will be very nice for Iraqis to live in a free Iraq: i.e. an Iraq free of occupation troops and continuous bloodshed.

why not?

I invested 10,000 into Iraqi currency (10,000,000+ dinars) for me. When the ratio hits 10:1 or better within the next decade, I stand to make some serious money.

Big deal, who cares. The alliance got the oil that's all that matters.

Iraq and it's people are of little or no importance.

Iraq has now become the killing ground for al Qaida trained insurgents and anyone else who wishes to die.

Just as there are Leftists in western nations who do not value freedom, I can believe there are some folks in Iraq who are the same.
