The short version.
Umaga was a heel until this Monday night Raw. In order for him to turn face he had to help a face wrestler.....Cena.
Tag match next Monday leads to Umaga vs Carlito at SS, which was probably supposed to be Umaga vs Hardy.
Carlito getting involved was just a basic wrestling storyline where a face wrestler is outnumbered. Plus it would give reason for a Umaga vs Carlito match since they wouldn't do a heel vs heel match.
There is only two more Raws before Summer Slam. Plus all the major face single wrestlers are out except Cena.
Carlito getting involved added to the cheating heel for Orton as well.
As of now we only have the two title matches, and two return matches....and probably MVP vs Matt Hardy. Since Jeff messed the other match up they needed a way to get a IC match, and this quick storyline was it.

Yes,it seems Carlito maybe is involving into the Summerslam WWE Title match!how Cool can that get?haha Vince has a sense,& he knows what he's doing!
How bout a certain Game that is returning to Summerslam?u forgotten abt him? yes,it's Triple H!!! he's returning,& i'm damn sure he would be heavily involve in the main event too!he would be the key man to determine whether Orton becomes the new WWE Champion or Cena retaining!

Yup,Carlito would be feuding with Umaga for the IC title! when i watched RAW on Monday,i was shocked to find out Umaga turned face!really dude,i'm sure u were shocked too!& the superkick he gave Carlito,that was sweet!!!

Carlito is a good wrestler but just shouldnt be involved in the WWE Championship, if he is he should at least get a hair cut first! He will probably be in an IC match at Summerslam hence the tag match next Raw. Vince is too busy with the government to worry about storylines.

As much as I love Carlito and as great as a wrestler that he is, I really don't want him to get involved in the WWE Championship match at Summerslam because I've been waiting for the day when Randy faces Cena for a title and it's finally come!
And yeah, I hope it is Carlito vs. Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship at Summerslam...that would be a cool match!
Umaga seems like he's turning face and that's what alot of sites have posted, that Umaga will turn face!
I really can't see Umaga as a face, but I would like to see how he would take on the role!

Vince has made alot of mistakes in the WWE, but I don't think he will add Carlito to the WWE Championship match....well I hope not anyway!
Yep, Carlito has been involved in the Orton/Cena feud alot, but I enjoy it! And it's also weird that not long ago, it was Carlito and Randy who were feuding with eachother and now they are teaming up next week at Madison Square Garden, the home of WrestleMania! Same goes with Umaga and Cena, they were feuding at the start of this year and they are now teaming up!
The WWE can sometimes be very unpredictable!
And as I always say....Expect the Unexpected!

Maybe they're gearing Carlito up for a feud with Cena later on. When HHH gets back he and Orton will feud for the title and John Cena may feud with Carlito.
And Steffy above me has a point too, but I hope that's not the case. I'd rather Orton win on his own merit. He's way too good a wrestler to have to cheat.

good point, carlito should just try to start his own feud with someone and then he'll become more popular because thats just what he wants to be,so if he stops poking his nose into other peoples buisness he might stand a better chance of one day becoming like cenaand orton,
that would be quite a good match if carlito did face umaga at summmerslam

I agree. Although I thought 2006 was a decent year, 2005 was truly the last great year of the WWE. That year had a lot of great feuds and matches like Orton vs Undertaker, HHH vs Batista, HBK vs Angle, and Eddie Guerrero vs Mysterio. The last few years in the WWE have been boring and disappointing. We keep seeing the same guys constantly in the main event (Cena, Orton, and Triple H). WWE has been going downhill since late 2006 in my opinion.

Carlito is involved to help Orton beat Cena. You don't think they will let Randy beat Cena one on one, do you? After all Cena has beaten Umanga and Khali, For Randy to win the belt as a heel he has to have some distract Cena.
