Not personally no, but have worked with co-workers who became a couple and then broke up 6 months later. I feel sorry for anybody in this situation, a relationship breakdown witnessed by all of the staff, discussed and gossiped about as though it were a soap opera, the work itself disrupted as some individuals inevitably side with one party or the other. In the end its probably best to start looking for another position before the break-up is widely known about, and get away early, before the situation becomes too intolerable.

Never have a serious relationship with a co-worker. Period.

If you have a relationship, make sure it isn't serious until one or the other finds a new job. In the real world, if you break up it will be unbearable to still see the other person on a daily basis. Part of the healing process of a break-up, is to distance yourself from the other person and get on with your life.

I once had a serious relationship and had to leave that company because I couldn't bear seeing her day after day.

Hope you find a way to heal too.

Yes, even married him. But things went south and I wanted out before I hated him. I still thought he was a good person and good at his job so we treated each other civily at work. Eventually we just became good friends. It can happen if you work at it, but you have to be adults and don't let it jeopardize your working relationship.

yeah and she did transfer to another city, a mining firm, and pretty soon she got involved w/ a amrried manager of one of the dept and all hell broke the wife discovered and they were both fired and i knew in advance it will happen, in fact i was there when i visited her and knew at once that something is going so i invited back to me, to our city/place and proposed marriage but! she broke our rule and above all our belief so we parted ways...material girl she was, i supposed.

There is a reason why they always say to never mix business with pleasure. i.e. NEVER date someone you work with, because you can guarantee it won't work, and then you are in a sticky position.

Never a good thing to even date a coworker. Too many complications when it is over.
