Because "Freedom is Popular"

He's not really gaining much ground. He's still got no real presense. Saturday ought to be interesting at the Iowa Straw Poll. That will be the first example around here of if the Ron Paul people can only type on the Internet, or if they can crawl out of their caves and actually go to an event.

I am going for Duncan Hunter, even though I know he has no shot. I doubt he will drop out Sunday morning, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did.

Ron Paul is a college kid's dream. if you want to be a rebel, he's your guy. You can piss off all of your friends and shock them by being a Republican, and you can piss off the Republicans who recognize Ron Paul as a liberal Democrat in a Republican suit. You are a winner on all fronts.

I think he's gaining more ground than anyone realizes. More and more people are learning about him.

The only hope for him is via the internet since the media machine is trying their best to ignore him. He says more in the few seconds he's allowed to speak at the debates than the "frontrunners" do by giving lectures. We've heard all they have to say. Let Dr. Paul speak longer.

I see several problems with Ron Paul's campaign. And mind you, I have great respect for the honesty and integrity of Ron Paul. But the greatest problem is that he relies so much on the following of a small group of internet supporters. He is HUGE on the web... it's almost a cult following, but that doesn't translate into poll numbers or signifigant fundraising. These internet "trolls" need to crawl out of the shadows and actually go start knocking on doors in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina and Florida for their man to gain any new ground.

I don't personally believe that polls are completely scientific, nor do I think they reflect the exact attitudes of the American people. But I do give them a level of credibility. If you're consistently polling at 1-2 pct. in state polls, and at astrick (*) in national polls... that says something. It says that the campaign is not healthy, that the candidate himself is not viable.

If you want to be a competitive candidate, you need to be polling at least at 10 pct. And unfortunately, Ron Paul doesn't have the cojones to pull off a victory in the Republican primary. The base is extremely conservative, and Ron Paul is very moderate. At debates, he's the only one to criticize the administration. He is anti-war, and he states publically that Bush has done more to strenghten the size of government rather than reduce it.

For a Paul victory, he's going to need to get these guys living in their basements into the streets, canvassing, and he's going to have to start sucking up to some big conservative hot-shots to get the big bucks for ad-buy (commercials) in early states. But he won't suck up, nor will his supporters emerge in an unprecidented, historic, grassroots campaign.

Because almost all of his viewpoints, besides those on foreign policy, are exactly what this country needs. I doubt you are very familiar with him, so go to the libertarian homepage and read up, his grasp of what America needs and his desire to follow the constitution word for word, is something American's should share.

I don't know but he is. I think it's because he seems to be a moderate and most of the young folks I talk to like his idea of not sending them to Iraq.

Jumping from 1% to 2% is not exactly "gaining ground".
