I'm not sure Kimi I think you'd be setting your child up for being picked on or bullied. Its a good name for a pet.

Can you imagine what she'll be called...
'fame academy'
'police academy'
'academy award'
I could go on... Yeah its childish..But she is going to be a child...for a long time... Kids will tease her.... My 'real' name has caused me grief my entire life..to the point I dont even use it anymore ever as I hate it...and my mum thought it was cute... No kid wants to stand out that much unless they're the kid of a millionaire retard pop star who'll be mixing frequently with quirkily named kids... Brooklyn and Apple and Moses and Romeo will all play together probably and think nothing of it...
In a school where kids are called James and Chloe and Jack and Lily..Academy is going to feel like an outcast!!
Please...It may sound cute to you...But having been in that place...where everytime some says your name you get teased...
i.e first day at new school
whenever you meet anyone new
hospital/doctor appointments
I dread them, I get anxiety attacks its horrible...
You're not thinking long term, you're thinking cute!! She wont be a baby forever...!!
Im passionate about this, as its caused me endless misery and arguements with my parents.

I think that if you really think that it is a great name go for it, but don't confirm it until you have spent at least a few minutes with the baby as your mind may change with the babies personality. And what will you do it the baby is a boy? Will you still name it Academy you have to think of all the possible circumstances!
Good Luck!!

I went to a school that was called Academy, it sounds like a school or trainng place, not the name for a gorgeous little girl. You may as well call her Hospital or Bus Garage.

Hmmmm....every time i say the name, I inevitably break into the jingle from the Academy sporting good stores commercials: "Academy for sports & outdoors, Acaaaademy. The difference is the price!". I say no. Spare your child.

She will sound like some sort of educational institute but heck she will be your child...if you are really stuck on it maybe choose it as a middle name and at home you can call her academy and if when she is older she hates it she can use her first name

Oh my goodness. I really hope you're a silly unreasonable 13-year-old who has plenty of time to change her mind. Academy as a name is just awful.

Hate to say it love, I dont like it.
You say its better than a made up name but I beg to differ. Made up names dont already have a completely weird and irelevant meaning.
I heard of one mother who named their kid Placenta cos she heard it in the delivery room and thought it sounded pretty.
This reminds me of that.
People will constantly think why? and they'll be no real reason.
Its not the same as calling your kid something unusual or something hard to spell, its like calling them Infirmary, University, or Council

'Academy' is possibly a name which could get the child bullied. I get a LOT of stick about my name.

I don't think I would do that to the poor little girl. Just think of the names she would be called growing up.
